Due to the lack of anything to do I've skipepd ahead to day 3 of the voyuage (weather got worse on day 2, turned into a storm early the following morning).

Yes they do.

Every five rounds there was an 80% chance of Galmid drifting a further 5 yards away from the ship. Aurum swing at ten foot a round. I rolled a 92 so he stayed where he was. After a certain distance he's considered unsavable.

So yes, the swim checks did matter in case you didn't reach him in time ('cause you might be able to breath underwater but he can't :p).

I've been without internet access since Saturday arvo my time (morning in the UK?) This is being typed at an netcafe. I'll contact my provider tomorrow and see if I can reconnect. Hopefully it will be fairly quick. If not, I'll go to a local netcafe and let you know.
