Once the Doctor goes through the door and Lunk follows him Olothros decides to go in. I just wanted to make sure he didn't try to lock us in. He keeps his sword in its sheath and tries to keep a calm appearance, all the while scanning the room for any threats, oddities, or just things of note. :icon_suspicious: He keeps his wand in hand. OOC: He is a wizard afterall :shrug:

Great minds think alike.. or is it fools seldom differ? Im sure olothros was thinking we might be locked in too!

Gaius follows the doctor. Listening for sounds of ambush, or the unusual.

"OOC i will go after the doctor, olothros can go last.. we all know that the guy at the end and in front always bite it!! "

The doctor enters followed by humming Lunk, Will, and finally Olothoros and Gaius performing a subtle complicated dance of "who will be last". Once you are all in, the Doctor goes to the door and shuts it.

He makes his way down the stairs to the group of 5 inmates on the lower level (OOC:see previous descriptions of this room).

He speaks gently and kindly to the group, "Good morning everyone, I hope you're well,". You can see the group comprises an extremely attractive young blond woman wearing a straitjacket, a dour looking man who appears to be in his 60s, a cheerful looking halfling male, a middle-aged woman staring into space, and a middle-aged mustachioed man who stands up and addresses the doctor in a regal manner "As well as ever, Asworth. And who are these?" he indicates your party.

"These are some friends, Harl," replies the doctor "They've just come to visit."
"Visit, eh? I'm sure when I awake, I shall have to contend with whatever state visit is thrust upon me." the man sighs with boredom.
Doctor Asworth looks sympathetic "Well, no doubt, Harl."

Olothros looks around the room scanning to see if he can discern anything out of the ordinary or threatening. "Dr. Asworth who are these good people and why are they here? Also I did ask you something before we entered....."

OOC: Where is everyone? Am I right in assuming everyone walked down to the group around the fire? Can Olothros see what is to the left of the room from where he is standing?

" Greetings Sir " Gaius addresses Harl. " Many apologies for the sudden intrusion. Our good friend Dr Asworth is showing us around his clinic"

"How are your accomodations here? Im sure Dr Asworth's hospitality is at his usual high standard."

OOC: You can stand wherever you'd like to stand, Gaius has followed the doctor obviously, and I'll say Will has as well. You can go wherever you like. Lunk, well we can assume he sticks with his buddies unless David says differently. What do mean by "to the left of the room"? Do you mean the blank square in the south west corner. If so that's a canvas tent.  :icon_cool:

Harl regards Gaius with the air of a nobleman who has just encountered someone faintly amusing, "Ah, what a polite young man! So good to finally dream up someone with manners! Aside from Asworth here of course. Yes, well what can one say, it's not up to the standards of my real accommodation but it seems that these poor people here are well treated."

Dr Asworth turns to Olothoros, "Why are they here? They've all been brought here by friends or family to be somewhere safe, rather than be mocked, persecuted, broken. Would you rather that than we try through care and science to make them happier, if not saner? Who are they? This is Harl," (he indicates the man talking now to Gaius), "Darco" (the older man, who at the mention of his name, gives a sullen look), "Gibs" (the halfling, who nods at you in a relaxed friendly manner and says "Hi!") "Pym" (the girl in the straitjacket, who looks sorry for herself), and "Therese", he sighs in genuine sympathy at the catatonic looking middle-aged woman.

"You asked me who Shaver was; Shaver is my assistant. And please I ask you to maintain your evident temper around here. It will not help you."

Olothros steps closer to dr. Asworth in a nonthreatening way and whispers "that is why we let Gaius talk to everyone else. By the way where is your assistant?" He takes a few steps away from the doctor in order to avoid alarming the patients. Olothros is interested in the tent in the corner so he decides to walk over there and take a look inside.

OOC: Do spot and search checks whenever I can. Can I see up to the upper level into the rooms/cells?

Lunk smiles and knods.  These folks look well cared-for, unlike how they treated the crazies and half breeds in his home village.

OOC: Olothoros is tall for an elf at 5'5'' but the doctor is about 5 inches taller than him. Just got a funny image of Olothoros trying to be threatening all the time but looking a bit weedy by comparison!

Olothoros leaves the doctor with those thoughts, and heads over to the canvas tent. He can't see up into the rooms on the next level (the barred windows are too high), but he does notice that the southernmost door does not have a window.

Going up to the tent and examining it carefully he sees that the canvas and wooden framework show clean patches and some fresh pieces of lumber. Inside he can see that the tent conceals nothing more than a metal grating in the floor, about 2 feet square. It looks like it has been wrenched from the floor recently and then hammered back into place.

Olothros steps into the tent to get a better look around. What is this? I wonder where this leads?

OOC: Do spot and Search checks once in the tent. Olothros is bold but it is because he trusts in his magic and his friends.

Gaius continues to chat with Harl.
" It does indeed seem that the other souls here are treated well, I imagine that you keep an eye on things here for Dr Answorth? You seem to be a man of authority as i surmised"
Giaus leans closer in confidence to Harl
" Have you noticed anything different of late, any change to the routine with Dr Answorth? My old friend seems to be tense or distracted,  i would surely like to make sure he is ok"

Olothoros, you deduce that it serves as nothing more sinister than as an outhouse for the inmates. From the smell, the grating leads into a sewer system. There's nothing else for you to find except the grating, and what you've already noted from the canvas and framework. The grating looks like it was removed recently and put back, but it would be beyond your strength to do either.

Harl leans into Gaius conspiratorially, every inch the noble courtier imparting gossip regarding a fellow member of the aristocracy, "Well, yes he is a good fellow I must say. Very humane, don't you know. I'm just glad that this isn't a nightmare, eh?" he chuckles, "Rather nice to have such a good chap in mind when one's asleep. But he has been doing things a bit differently of late, I must say. Don't know where he's taken some of the poor fellows off to. Not how I run my country at all." he tuts.

Olothros makes a mental note of about the grate having been removed and put back. I am sure Lunk can lift that. He decides to go up to the cells and have a look. As he heads that way he passes Will and asks him to come with him.

Will snorts "W-w-w--what now, o great leader? Come to g-g-g-give me more sneakin' lessons?"

"I'm going to be nosey and check out the cells. If they are locked you would be able to open them, so we could search them. I am sure you don't care about all this conversation." Olothros also tells him about the grate in the tent and asks him if he thinks it is odd that it was removed and put back.
