Unfortunately Will, you can't hear anything above the howling wind and your chattering teeth. Komodo seems very grateful to Olothoros in a lizardy way. Who will knock on the door?

OOC: Well, you're all walking towards it, but David hadn't explicitly stated Lunk would actually knock; just wondered if someone else wanted to say they were definitely going to.

 Why knock when you don't have to? Let the priest knock at doors, let the big brute knock at doors you won't catch ME knocking on no doors that's for sure...

OCC  I was waiting for someone to say, "don't touch that, its EVIL!!"  But if nobody stops him, Lunk is gonna give the knocker a great slam

"Ho!  Is someone about?"  Shouts Lunk as he grabs the doorknocker and gives it a healthy SLAM SLAM SLAM

Olothros shakes his head yet again and thinks, there goes the element of surprise. "Lets just get in there already, it's freezing"

Olothoros,you try to shout at Lunk but he can't hear you due to the wind and snow. Lunk, you try to knock loudly but with fingers so numb that you are scarcely able to grasp the ring, you work the knocker as best you can and step back. You try to shout but it's impossible in this blizzard, it takes your words and breath away. Soon you are all greeted at the door by a young man of about 30 years of age dressed in a clean white smock. He looks surprised but invites you in. Shaking hands all around, he introduces himself as Doctor Jonathan Asworth and bids you remove your coats and gear. "You look frozen half to death," he says, shaking his head and making "Tsk tsk" noises to himself. "Have you dined? I have a frsh pot of soup on the hearth."

OOC: We'e gone a little bit ahead without input from Gaius, so if you could also say what gear you're taking in your next post, please Molar?

Not being very strong, Gaius struggles with securing most of his gear on the horse. He takes his mirror/empty vial/oil/Quarterstaff/crossbow. The cold freezing his hands as he ties his rope and rations with strong knots.

He catchs up to the others by walking towards the door.
Upon seeing the doctor he says
"Thank you good sir, I doubt any of us would refuse your hospitality, its a might nippy outside"
Gaius walks in to shake the doctors hand. " well met Dr Asworth, I am Gaius Holbrar and these are my travelling companions Olothros the contemplative, Lunk and Will Snicket. "

OOC Gaius enters the building and place his coat, backpack and weapons in the place indicated by the doctor. However he holds onto his mirror and empty vial in his belt pouch... hes so trusting of a doctor!

"Well met all, now do sit down!" he says with kindly concern and a jokey bustling "Come on, now.. do we have enough chairs, ah yes, and I can stand and serve." He waits until you're all seated and starts to dish up for all of you. "May I ask you gentleman what brings you here?" he asks once you have settled and have your bowls full of delicious smelling soup.

Call me paranoid, but this guy is awfully eager to feed us without a clue who we are. Im going to take a precaution in case there is something wrong with the food

OOC I will cast purify food and drink on the meal. It evidently works on 3 cubic feet of food/drink in a 10 foot range. Would this apply to only my soup, or all the soup?

OOC: It would apply to all the soup. Let's see if any of your buddies object or if they even wait!

Even though Lunk packed the wineskin and the dried beef with him, he starts sloppin into that soup the moment it hits the table.  "No feet or tails, but yummmy!  Have some, Will, don't be shy!"

Lunk took his trusty axe with him, and is wearing the armor.  The bow, arrows, and the rope are on the horse.

Seeing Lunk dive in to the soup, Gaius pauses before he casts his spell

"My apologies for my eager friend doctor, his manners are somewhat lacking! " Gaius kicks Lunk under the table.
"you really should wait before we give thanks Lunk! "
" We are searching for two men Jacob and Larion, they passed this way about five - seven day ago." Gaius describes the men. "They are dear friends to an associate of ours who has been awaiting their return"

" Since the journey up and back only takes a couple of days, he is concerned that they may have fallen a foul of some bandits, Do you know if the men passed this way at all? "

OOC Gaius attempts to sense motive when talking to the doctor, he will not touch his soup for a little while. Lunk can be the guinea pig. He will cast his spell if there is a pause in the conversation or the other two wait before eating

Doctor Asworth expresses dismay at your story "Jacob Mason? Yes he brings supplies to us here. I was expecting him but he never arrived. I hope nothing's happened to him, we were on very good terms. Oh dear, and Larion his son as well? How awful, no he never showed up here either. I have no idea what can have happened to them, unless like you say, they were taken by bandits." His tone throughout is one of geniune concern.

OOC: Gaius, although he's hidden it well, Jonathan knows more than he's letting on. (Sense Motive DC 20 - Your result= 21). And as an addendum, Lunk: gain 1XP for agreeing to take this quest in the first place, Gaius: gain 1 XP for helping Wohin, Olothoros: gain 1XP for continually trying to find out more about the background to the quest.
