And so, our brave heroes leave the trussed up and gagged doctor behind and make their way (with Lunk's aid) to the cyclopean temple.

As previously described it is unlit, bar a 20 foot or so radius round a central altar. That is the only portion of the mosaic that can be seen.

OOC: 1 square= 20 ft
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Who does he think he is, ordering me round like that?

Will just looks at the elf
" a...a...aint no slave for you pointy ears" he mutters and turns to stares at the central altar

Creepy stuff...

"No need to get upity about things Will, only Lunk can see in the dark." I figured you might like to see the trap we are probably walking into!" An acid splash in his mouth would stop all of his whining. Olothros stops for a second to listen for any sounds other than that of the party. "Lunk are we alone as far as you can see?"

OOC: Also the light zone around the altar extends to 40 foot radius for Olthy only. The humans see it as a 20 ft radius, and Lunk can see 60 ft in the dark anyway! Phew!
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Olothros walks around the Altar as far as his vision allows to study the images.

OOC: Does he recognize anything? Knowledge check?

To the human observers the elf seems to be standing in darkness, but his elven sight allow him to utilise the light to greater advantage. As far as he can tell the mosaics immediately surrounding the altar seem to tell a separate story to the rest of the mosaic, but from 40 feet away he can't tell exactly what it is.

OOC: It's as alien to him as the rest of the city.

Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?

Once Olothoros has walked away Will lights one of his torches and starts searching the room for traps or other unpleasant (OR pleasant  :icon_wink:) stuff.
Since Olothoros is by the altar Will examines the outer perimeters first (along all walls that is) staying away from the altar. He'll then have a search pattern in a closing spiral shape ending by going around the altar (provided he doesn't find anything first) Oh and he moves clockwise.
(Phew - You can tell I've made my "search and recovery" lessons what with search patterns and all... :icon_wink:)

Gaius thinks back to his training and lore about the occult and planar beings. Has the light of asacimov illuminated me on the superstitions and heresy that is evident here? No doubt some primitive worshipping of magically powered beings posing as Gods  OOC Arcane knowledge and religion Check please DM! Meanwhile keeping a look out nervously for any response to our illuminating the area.

OOC: Neither Olothoros nor Gaius have any knowledge of what this place might be (apart from a temple). Are you going to examine the mosaic? You estimate it will take two hours to read the whole thing (bar the central mosaic, which is a separate story and probably would only take 5 minutes and is illuminated anyway.)

Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?

"Since he is going to act alone he can be treated that way as well." Olothros concentrates on figuring out the scene around the altar. "I will have to see the rest during day light."

OOC: Paragon elves can see 3 times as far.

"Hoy, whatcha guys think?  Cool place, huh?"  exclaims Lunk, with appropriate austerity for the setting...  or not...

Olothros follows Will around just out of his range of sight so that he can still view the mosiac and try to decifer it.

OOC: There won't be any daylight filtering into the temple. Remember it's got a roof of solid stone and is packed underneath hundreds of feet of ice. Will Gaius also be deciphering the mosaic?
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Gaius sees Olothroses interest in the mosiac and decides to join him.

"Olothros, this will take some time, but i believe we should read the entire thing. It will give us a better idea of our surroundings. Will and Lunk perhaps we should set up another campsite here.. this might take a while>"
