"Im concerned for all of us Will, and you obviously are too by protecting our brothers flank. You have the makings of a good strategist" Gaius smiles benevolently at will. He keeps his crossbow at the ready listening for sounds of intruders.

Lunk is making short work of the altar, but i hope his blows dont drown out the sound of any enemies approach

The brave half-orc continues to smash the altar. It can't take much more of this! But our two scholars hear the sounds of a mob approaching!

OOC: Gaius and Olthy, please each make a Strength check i.e. roll 1d0 and add your Str bonus (oh, which is +0 in G's case!)

WOW, I glanced over that so fast I thought you typed 1d10 (and thought it was odd). Anyway here is my roll and you will see I have no luck, and he has no strength. Olothros' Strength check (1d20-2=2)

After his futile straining for a moment Olothros turns to look at lunk. Thank boccob for his might "Great work my friend. Smash it to pieces as quickly as you can. It looks like we may have more for you to bash soon enough."

How far away is the mob?

The mob of people surges through the doors, despite Gaius' great effort, Olthoros' strength lets them down. The two magic-users are pushed aside as the gang of people enters the temple.

Just as this happens, Lunk's last blow strikes the altar and it smashes to smithereens! Shards of crystal explode outwards.

OOC: Lunk and Will, please make a DC14 Reflex save or each take 2d4 damage (you can roll it if you fail)

As the altar is smashed, a change comes over the people. Almost as one, they drop their weapons and you can hear a chorus of "Thank you!" "Oh dear gods, it's over!" and other similar laments. It seems the spell is broken, but the victims of the creature remember everything.

A familiar figure staggers in and almost weeping comes up to Gaius. It is Doctor Asworth, "I... I... I am sorry. It made me. You - have to understand. It made me want to do these things! I couldn't help myself. My friends, i am truly sorry!"

Lunk deftly ducks out of the way of the flying shards... (1d20=6, 2d4=4)

OOC:  I don't remember what my reflex modifier is, but with a nat 6 roll, I'll take the four points of damage!

"Hoy!  Its Bust!  Orthy!!  Ow!!"  shouts Lunk

Olothros collects himself after being pushed aside by the crowd surging through the door. Looking at lunk he says "Great job my friend, Now its time for us to take these good people home. Lets get this group organised and find out who is who."

Gaius picks himself up after being pushed over by the mob. He addresses the victims, "Friends, before we leave, are there more of these creatures around that we should be mindful of? "
