Prepare to enter Deathtrap Dungeon

Throm steps back in amazement, dropping the rope in surprise (but fortunately Dekion & Sarian both grab for it). "What foul sorceryr is this that she doth descend into the depths as if a spider lurking on the wall?"

When the return the rope to him he grips it firmly, wrapping it about his knuckles, wrists and elbows determined to "haul up the wench should she need it or lower the rest of you city weaklings if ye be ready enough."

"How are we going to get you down Throm if we all go? Lets look for something to secure the rope to. rhana can always climb back up and untie it for us. Or if you have feather fall memorize Rhana, just cast it on me and I will jump."

Flashing a lopsided grin and winking an eye the mighty warrior declares that they should "fear not for Throm for he is a mighty man who can surely make his way down such a descent if the weakling woman can."

Oh, just checked and he's got a spare bundle of rope that he found earlier in the dungeon so he can "afford" to leave one behind here. He was wondering how to get down and still manage to take his rope with him. That being said he's got a pretty good climb skill as it is. Not a patch on Sarian's but a lot better than anyone else's.

Rhana calls back up from the pit. "I must use such sorcery, for I am clearly not as mighty as Throm.  But once I know it is safe down here for my injured friends, I should gladly come back up and hold the rope to assist in Throm's decent - as I would not wish his might to be squandard on such a unworthy opponent as a hole in the ground.  I would wish to see the mighty Throm use his mighty strength as it was intended to be used."

Once we are all down safely Dekion looks around. "Don't forget the rope."

After lowering everyone down Throm drops the rope and clambers down the wall in a somewhat ungainly fashion but many of you marvel at his skill since most of you would be hard pressed to find decent handholds on it without Sarian talking you through it as you went.

At the bottom of the pit the passageway soon reaches a corner. Before the corner there is a large bookcase standing up against the right hand wall stuffed with old books and scrolls. Throm scowls at the books calling them useless weakling's weapons that will not avail him here.

Dekion looks at the floor, walls and ceiling in the area around the bookcase to see if he notices a trap of some sort.

Without touching anything, Rhana examines the bookcase to see if she can make anything of its contents.

Whilst most of the books don't look very valuable two ancient tomes catch her eye. There is a red book that's in a very bad state of repair and must be handled carefuly, and a black book that's in a much better condition.

"Well, my turn. Hold tight". I decend down the rope

Ellion joins Rhana in checking out the books. "Perhaps some books found are of more use to a clerics knoledges than to those of a mage" she says to Rhana as a sort of excuse.

"Its OK to like to look at books, Ellion.  You don't need to be a librarian to enjoy it!" she smiles up at the taller woman.

"Sarian, Dekion - I'm interested in those two books", she indicates the red and black books without touching them. "Do you think it is safe to touch them?"

Sarian thinks it's safe for you (but not very safe for the red book if it's handled).

Rhana pulls out the black book, gently, to examine it.

Opening the black book Rhana finds that it's pages have been glued together and a hollow compartment carved out containing a glass phial, the label of which describes it's contents as a magical potion of trapfinding. As per the Find Traps spell.
