Prepare to enter Deathtrap Dungeon

Ellion puts her crossbow away, brings out the mace and walks around the cave examining the rest of it. Oh, and she casts a light spell for the benefit of all.

"I don't trust anything in here, but an extra weapon is always a good think. Plus one of you can probably use this dagger. why don't we kill the worms and then look around to see if we can find a trap before we take it. Sound good?" Dekion looks around to see if there are any signs of a trap, or more creatures in the room.

Rhana approaches within 10 feet of the door, staying firmly in the corridor.

"If you guys are happy searching inside that trap, I'll just stay here and make sure we're not outflanked!"

Dekion chuckles for a second "everything is a trap Rhana, shout if you need us."

I continue my search for traps, but avoid going to close to the worms

Sarian discovers no traps but he keeps hearing that buzzing sound coming from somewhere up near the roof in the darkness overhead.

"Rhana! I think your elven sight is needed, that buzzing is back somewere near the room!"

Ehrrrm. I DID cast a light spell...

Dekion steps away from the Dagger and Worms "I think we should step away from these until we know what is buzzing above." He keeps himself ready for an attack from either the pit or above.

I need to check how large the light is. Besides, Ellion's got darkvision anyway.

Looking upwards Ellion can see a large (very large) fly like insect. It doesn't seem to have noticed the people on the ground yet.

"should I shoot it?" I ask as i quietly draw and string my bow

with full sneak attack damage if it really hasn't seen us

"Only when all of us are ready. We should shoot together. Everyone ready to fire?" Dekion takes out his crossbow and prepares to fire. For his second attack he switches to his Scimitar & Shield to defend when it is aware of us.

Phew! A giant insect is MUCH better than a swarm. Easier to deal with.
Ellion gets ready to fire as well. So I guess we're all ready since Rhana is outside?

I take a quick glance to Dekion, then Ellion to check they're ready, then take the first shot

it's one insect, it doesn't need a battle thread

Sarian shotos the giant fly for 19 damage. It drops like a stone (at -5 hp and then another 8 falling damage puts it beyond help).

I suspected it wouldn't need a battle thread. You can thank the thief's good hearing.
