OOC: Cool. We just need to get Kurt's rolls, and the combat can kick off.
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

OOC: OK, so Initiatives: Lunk 21, Head (red) 19, Head (purple) 19, Gaius 18, Olthy 17, Will 13. I'll proceed to run the combat in initiative order.

For Olthy only:
You recognise these creatures as Vargouilles, lesser denizens of the lower planes. They are however, very dangerous; they can emit a piercing shriek that can paralyzeopponents, and can then proceed to 'kiss' any paralyzed victims. A recipient of this 'kiss' then undergoes a horrible transformation over a period of roughly 24 hours. His hair falls out and in its place sprout tentacles, fangs grow, his mind begins to erode and wings grow behind his ears. The head then sprouts off the body (left for dead) and is now a vargouille. This process can only be halted by daylight, and reversed by a cure disease spell. As if this were not enough, a vargouille also has a poisinous bite that can render the victim's wounds unable to heal in any way, until the poison is removed.
For Gaius only:
What are these things?! Agghhh!
OOC: So Lunk, you can't 'charge' (as in the combat maneuver but you certainly can move up to a head and attack. Please make your attack roll with the power attack modifier, and I'll resolve each character's action in turn. Thanks for bearing with this, hopefully it will make you guys feel more involved in actions and combat.

OOC -- uh, move of 30?  can't charge?  is it because friends are in the way, or me weapon wasn't drawn (even though I kinda saw it coming...)?

Lunk moves up and takes a 2-handed swing at the purple head (with a +3 power attack) (1d20+6=13)

Damage for power attack on purple head if it hits... (1d8+9=12)

OOC: Initiatives: Lunk 21, Head (red) 19, Head (purple) 19, Gaius 18, Olthy 17, Will 16.

A 'charge'  (where you can get a bonus to hit) can't have any obstacles (that includes allies0 http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specialAttacks.htm Oh yes, please add and subtract all modifier's on the die roll - you can get invisible castle to do this automatically e.g. 1d20+9-3 for Lunk's power attack roll with the axe. Lunk hits and takedown!

Lunk shoves past Gaius and runs up to one of the flying heads, swinging his axe with all the strength he can muster. It cuts deep into the creature, and with an anguished wail it drops to the ground, foul ichor spilling in a pool.

"Lunk, use the cleave!" a faint voice reverberates in his thick head, but somehow that doesn't register...  yet...

In a brief moment of Horros Olorthos remembers these creatures from his studies. Defense doesn't matter I need to Kill it before it can strike. He decides against the mage armor spell which had come to mind in the first place. He casts magic missle at the vargouille.

OOC: Initiatives: Lunk 21, Head (red) 19, Gaius 18, Olthy 17, Will 16.

As if in outrage at the felling of its fellow, the other head opens its distended jaw and emits a piercing shriek! Olothoros and Lunk manage to ignore the sound, but Gaius and Will are frozen in supernatural fear!

OOC: Fort saves DC 12; Lunk-1d20+5=20, Olthy-1d20+2=14, Gaius-1d20+3=8, Will-1d20+2=3. WIll and Gaius are now paralyzed until the head attacks them or flies out of range (60ft) or is no longer in sight.

Mike - please roll for a Concentration check and if you succeed the damage for Olthy's magic missile.

Olothoros forms the arcane syllables in his mind to launch a burst of energy at the creature, but this gives his opponent the opportunity it needs to try to bite him. It clamps its jaws down on his shoulder and Olthy recoils in agony, feeling the fangs bite deep into his flesh and arcane poison course into the wound. Would his spell succeed?

OOC:1d20+3=14 vs AC 11= hit for 4 points of damage 1d4=4 and Fort check against DC 12 1d20+2=5 = Olthy has been poisoned!

The stubborn elf winces in pain but spits out a string of words, launching a burst of blue-white energy against the thing. It sparks into it and the beast snarls in a high-pitched manner.

OOC: Round 2! Initiatives: Lunk 21, Head (red) 19, Head (purple) 19 (dying), Gaius 18 (paralyzed), Olthy 17, Will 16 (paralyzed).

"Lunk kill that damned thing! I'm poisioned." Damn! I let it bite me. Now I am poisioned. I need to use my art to save my life and that of my friends. Olothros doesn't move away from the Vargouille or Lunk. He begins to think of his next spell. I can use Acid Splash and save the last spell if we come up against something stronger. "Don't let it bite you. It is a Vargouille"

With a mighty blow, Lunk dispatches the vile fiend. As it joins its comrade in leaking unholy fluid on the floor of the hall, Gaius and Will feel the fear it caused leave their bodies, and they are free to move again.

OOC: XP awards: Olthy 3XP (Curious); Lunk 2 XP (Bloodlust); HP loss - Olthy: 4 points.

"Gaius I need some help with this poision." Must get armor I can wear. "Those were Vargouilles, lesser denizens of the lower planes.
