Prepare to enter Deathtrap Dungeon

I take the sword

The skeleton begs to differ. Battle thread incoming......

Surprise round:

As he tugs at the hilt of that large rusty sword those skeletal fingers clasp tight with an ominous clack. Rising it towers over the crouching knave and raises it's rusty blade high with both hands.

Straightening in shock Sarian is caught off balance as the sword comes swinging itself towards him, instinct alone saves him as he ducks, the blade passing within inches of his scalp would surely have lopped the top off his head like a child decapacitating an egg with a blunt spoon.

Round 1:

Bellowing "begon foul creature" Ellion brandishes her holy symbol and the skeleton retreats towards the stairs at the back of the room, clearly uncomfortable with her presence. Rhana advances into the room and unleashes a stream of acid that strikes the boney old warrior and begins eating through his armour at an alarming rate. Dekion closes in and strikes down with his sword, carving his way into the rusty old shoulder plates and nearly shearing through a collar bone.

As he pulls the blade free Sarian dashes for the door. The skeleton takes a clumsy swipe at him as he leaves, it's heavy blade clanging ominously as it strikes the floor.

Round 2

Raising it's rusty old sword from the floor with a loud scrud*ing sound, the skeleton hews ineffectualy at Dekion's shield. As Rhana backs towards the door, wand at the read, Ellion advances and smashes the thing in the face with her mace. As it's head reels Dekion slashes it's legs from under it and then severs it's spine at the waist. The creature moves no more and the scroll remains losely gripped in it's left hand.

When the Skeleton falls to the ground Dekion takes the scroll and looks at it to see if he can read it.

OOC: Is the sword worth anything?

[Keeper]

"So guys, do we want to go down, of finish exploring this level of Baron Something-Witty's Deathtrap Dungeon?  I think we should see what else is on this level, in case there are any more gemstones.   Wasn't it the Wizard Yaztromo who said 'Anything that doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger.'?"

Rhana smiles to herself, thinking of the time she met Yaztromo ...

Edited ever so slightly because Tenser is in Greyhawk, not Titan. The three wizards of Titan are Yaztromo, Nicodemus and that one with the strange oriental name that no-one can ever remember, Pen Tai Kora or something like that. Yaztromo lives in his tower on the southern edge of Darkwood Forest and Nicodemus lives a hermittic existance in a small hut tucked away under a bridge that spans one of the rivers that run through Port Blacksand, and he doesn't appreciate being disturbed by visitors nearly half as much as Yaztromo does.

I edited Blagins edit to make it yellow. It didn't seem to stand out enough from Keepers post.

The sword is a fairly knackered old buzzard* sword. The scroll bears a little rhyme:

Should you meet the Manticore,
Of it's tail beware,
Shield yourself against the spikes,
Flying through the air

"A manticore !?! No wonder no one has ever made it out. The creatures and traps are getting tougher as we go along. What is guarding the exit, a dragon?" Dekion Kicks the skeletons head. "Sorry guys, so do you want to check the corridor before we go down the stairs?"

"Either way, I'll check downstairs then". I go downstairs enough to see what is in the room below

"Why don't we finish this level and then go check the next one?"

[Keeper]

"I agree, Dekion."  Rhana exits the room, and move 10' down the corridor, looking ahead down the corridor to see what she can see.

OOC: Rhana has lowlight vision right? So she can see the fathest. Sarian should be up there with her so he can look for traps as they are walking and she can look down to see if anything is down there....

Dekion follows behind Rhana "Well don't go alone"

Down the stairs in the room below Sarian finds himself in a small chamber. On the far side another set of stairs leads upwards into the darkness. The room itself appears to have been used as  arubbish dump. Rotting foodstuffs and old debris litter the floor. The stench is very noticable.

Up in the corridor above Rhana gazes down the corridor. It extends for a very long way into the distance and, whilst the low lighting makes the end disappear in darkness she is able to see a little further. She can tell the hallway extends over 120' with no doors, side turnings or noticable features.

[Keeper]

"It goes as far as I can see into the darkness with no great features. 50 yards or more."

"What do you want to do?" Dekion has his shield and Scimitar at the ready
