Upon closer examination Sarian observes that the right eye does not seem to reflect the light properly. It is, in fact, a hollow glass cavity within which a very dangerous gas seems to writhe. Digging a knife tip in would probably cause the glass to shatter releasing the deadly gas which, when perched so precariously high, could catch a fellow by surprise causing him to fall the long distance to the floor in addition to whatever ill effects the gas itself could induce.

The left eye, however is a true gem, an emerald of remarkable quality. As he begins his work to loosen it he hears an ominous creaking cracking sound and, glancing back, observes that the two giant stuffed birds are beginning to move, animated by some foul spells clearly bound to the gem or it's socket.

Round 1

A great bird pecks at Sarian seeking to pluck him from his lofty perch. Desparately he swats at it with his shortsword and it jerks back. Rhana unleashes small blue darts of force from her wand to strike at both birds and dekion charges, slicing viciously at the shins of the great bird that had pecked at the thief perched on high, his blade slicing across it's legs and causing it to topple. Another blow of his sword strikes it's head clean off.

Meanwhile the other bird, somewhat stunned by the magical blast, approaches t'wards Rhana, beak a' pecking and feet a clawing. As luck would have it the creature is too unbalanced to make a concerted attack and it fails to cause any harm. Ellion advances and smashes her mace heavily into it's body causing it to sway on it's feet.

Round 2

Whilst Sarian regains his balance Rhana advances to strike the bird in the chest and Dekion, advancing around the statue, strikes it down. It's great feathered carcass is a threat no more.

Fight's over folks, thread's unlocked again :)).

"Everyone ok?" Dekion looks around the room to check status. "Once Sarian is finished with the gems (you said one was a gas trap, one is the real deal, and the third?), why don't we go back and see what is going on with the corridor that all that noise is coming from? I don't want us to leave any loose ends behind us. who knows what might try to sneak up on us if we don't take care of it right away.

Sarian manages to remove the large emerald safely. Since the other one is a potential deathtrap (and not even a real gemstone) he decides that it's probably safest to just descend rapidly and retieve his rope once he's down on the ground again.

Incidentaly, has anyone heard the news about them finding a diamond the size of a cocoanut in south africa today/yesterday? It's green because diamonds discovered near the surface are different colours but I found the large green gemstone to be ironicaly apropriate considering the emerald the size of a fist.

Unfortunately the original adventure specified two eyes, the d20 remake also specifies two eyes, the original artist just got a bit caried away :p. It's a nice picture 'though and there's only one "real" gemstone on the statue (although if anyone wants to clamber up and release so much poison that they pass out and fall the potentialy lethal distance t the floor then that's fine by me :p).

Dekion smiles when Sarian gets back down and puts away the rope. "Sarian i'll assume you will hold onto the gem. Are you ok with heading back so we can cover our own backs?"

"There's something in the sidetunnel. I'd swear it was a trap but of course you're the expert..." Ellion says, hoping to pique Sarians professional interest.
"But after that you really should get some rest Sarian" She reminds him sternly.

What IS Sarians condition? He should be rather weak from the poison still shouldn't he?

Yes he is still looking pretty exhausted and drained thanks to the venom coursing through his veins.

"If your trying to unsubtly hint me through this tunnel first, fine." I say back with a grin on my face. "I really don't nead rest, I'm just injured. If we get woried over a small scrud*e and a little poison in [EMPHASIS]DEATH[/EMPHASIS]trap Dungeon, we really won't get out of here. Now, which way to go, we've been as far as you can go to the right (if you were facing down, towards the dead barbarian), so it's a choice of through the bell or the other parallel passage? I for one don't like that bell very much." I say once I've gotten down and place the emerald and the rope safely into my backpack.
