Prepare to enter Deathtrap Dungeon

"Rhana I'll come with you. Let's take it slow so we don't miss anything." Dekion walks at half his normal speed to be careful and search as he walk. He keeps on guard at all times.

[Keeper]

"Actually, I've just had a better idea.  What here a moment, and I'll send out my companian first, to see what he can see."

Rhana reaches into her robe and produces a rat.  "Dekion, meet Milano.  Milano, Dekion."

The she speaks to the rat incomprehensibly and sets him down on the floor.

She asks Milano to go down the passage to the right a little way, and then come back and tell what he sees.  Rhana will use the Empathic Link with Milano to keep a track on how he is doing when he goes too far to be seen.

"Dekion, can you keep an eye on that thing on the ceiling up there, down the left passage, just in case it is a creature that might dive down to try and eat Milano, please?"

"Sure thing." Dekion draw his light (loaded) crossbow just in case he needs to take a ranged shot.

Ellion, having tagged along, also stands ready with her allready loaded crossbow.

[Keeper]

"Thanks chaps.  Now, lets see what Milano can find for us ..."

Milano scurries off down the corridor, behaving as like a normal rat as he can. When he returns he squeeks to Rhana as she picks him up and holds him, stroking to him and making almost incomprehensible noises in return (you know how some people get with pets).

Milano reports that about twenty feet down the tunnel he came across a large spongey brown mass of "something" that stood about four feet high. He didn't try to climb it because he didn't like the look of it but he reckons it's spongey squishy surface would prove difficult for his tiny claws to get a grip on anyway.

"Rhana would you like to send Milano the other way to see what else is that way? It might be good for us to know that out backs are covered." Dekion stands with the group and takes in his surroundings. He looks around the immediate vicinity to see if he finds anything.

"Better yet cast light on the rodent and we can see it for ourselves"

I draw my short sword and aproach cautiously to the 'spongy brown mass, and poke if it doesn't seam to be alive I poke it with my finger to see what it is

I am guessing it is light enough for me to see it roughly

Dekion doesn't let him go off alone. He puts back the crossbow to draw his scimitar. He also approaches with his shield raised. "We need to stay together as long as we can Sarian."

Lowering my voice so only Dekion can hear "Is it still possible to stay together if it is in one of our best interest's not too? just because we have an alliance does not change that this is an individual quest, and I will alwasy have an eye on you and the others"

I'm quite happy for I and the character's name to be interchangable :).

Sarian approaches the large spongey thing. It would appear to be some sort of fungal growth. It does not seem to be alive. He pokes it with his finger and it receeds udner the pressure, then slowly reassumes it's natural shape. The set of footprints which had come this way stop at the fungus thing, and don't go back.

Given that it's only about four feet high it might be possible to clamber over the "thing" but it's so spongey that that might not be such a good idea (sinking into it's squishy surface could prove quite nasty indeed).

"Careful with touching things you aren't sure oh. It could be poisonous. Should we just hack it to pieces or burn it?"

I take an arrow and stick it into the fungal growth so far that it either hits a wall or more solid object, or  my fingers start to go into it
