"L...l...look, just lend me the key and I'll see myself out no trouble"

He casts a sidewise glance at Olothoros

"Oh a...a...and I wouldn't trust that mealy faced elf for a sec if I where you"

OOC: It may be unclear but Will just packed his rope, NOT the kitchen utensils. He removed them and put them back. He's a bold thief but not THAT bold  :icon_wink:

Gaius awakes later than the others (as usual) and hears the commotion in the kitchen.

He walks out to sooth the doctor.

"Good doctor, i must humbly apologise for my travelling companions."   " You are indeed correct that a couple of us are thieves and liars, however i can assure you that we are not all in that category."

" My friend the elf has an affliction, he likes to take things. This im sure has a medical name, as ive encountered many innocent people with this problem in the past. I assure you there is no malice or malintention here, in fact one could suggest he may need treatment to help him with this." 
" Our other less savoury friend has some social maladjustment issues. You can see by his sloped forhead that he is of the criminal classes, hence why i had him stay in my room last night... i .. I have failed him and yourself by not acting as a better guardian for his sake and yours"
"Im annoyed that lunk didnt do a better job of keeping these two under better supervision... i can only blame long travel and extreme tiredness"

"We merely were seeking the two men we mentioned last night, since it is morning and we have aggrieved your hospitality we will leave."

Olothros walks over by Gaius on his way to where Will is and says "speak for yourself priest" as he passes Gaius.

Blah blah blah thinks Will to himself while still holding out his hand to the doctor for the key.

Gaius' intervention doesn't seem to soothe the doctor at all, OOC: DC to change unfriendly to indifferent 15, Diplomacy check result 10

"May I suggest you choose your friends with more care in future then, and I am sure that behind your honeyed words you are probably equally corrupt!" He says to Gaius.

"Corrupt coming from a man who does experiments on foul creatures? What have you done with the men who are missing?"

"I... I..." he tries to retort but bows his head instead and sighs with the air of one who has been under stress "I swear to you I have done nothing with them." He sits down in a chair with a slump, "Alright; when Jacob came here last, one of the inmates, a woman named Pym escaped from her staitjacket and attacked him. Jacob was horrified; he refused to be consoled and left straight away. His son arrived a few days later and I told him what had happened. Then he himself went out to find his father. So you see I blame myself for any bandits or yeti that might have come down from the mountains and taken them."

Angered by the admission that they were lied to the night before Olothros shouts "I demand to know if they are being hidden here and this is yet another lie"

There is no way that Olothoros can intimidate Dr Asworth, he seems to have a strong backbone in his young frame, and Olothoros isn't forceful enough a personality to have any effect. Olothoros doesn't sense that this is a lie though. OOC: Sense Motive DC 20, result = 4. "I am telling the truth."

"I'll find out for myself then!" Olothros goes into the doctors chambers and begins searching for clues.

Komodo is getting stressed by all the shouting but is staying put like he was told, by the way.

Lunk stands, kind of irritated with the implication that he wasn't doing his duty, and anoyed with the banter, it seems that they're getting kicked out, and his buddy Will is trying to get outside.  Aha.  realization dawns.

"Give me the keys!  Now!"  intimidating the doctor  "Don't lock up my friends!"
