Yep, it could've been a creature. I'll wait a little to let others post before resolving Ellion's actions. So she safely set off a trap and then moved into the continuous AOE, that's gonna hurt a bit :(.

Plus she doesn't know how dangerous it is until she gets close. It's actualy not so bad. There's onl a few creatures nearby that might notice and they're rather rpeoccupied right now. when she gets close enough she's got the wisdom to realise that it should've calmed down so clearly there's magic involved, and might turn back. I wouldn't want to break all her potions right now.

it would've been a lot worse if someone had just walked under it and it had gone off. Everyone else would've probably been standing nearby as well.

Magicd missile cannot target inanimate objects. It has to be a living creature (or undead creature). Check the spell description (and despite the fact that it's always been that way I've actualy seen a 1st ed adventure that's impossible to complete unless you cast magic missile atnthe rope holding the drawbridge up - despite the fact that you simply cannot do that because the rope is not a valid target for the spell).

Ok so what about dispell or maybe repeated crossbow shots targeted at where it is mounted? I am going for things that would not require any of us getting closer to it.

2nd level cleric spell: silence. This bell is enchanted by: 2nd level cleric spell: shatter. We just have to wait in the room so Ellion can prepare it.

I am a little confused. From where Ellion and Serian are standing, is the bell left or up on the map?
