The spell is in all worlds. I would say via plane hoping mages from greyhawk and other worlds the spell has spread across the cosmos. Just like all the other named spells by Bigby, tenser, etc.

I think Balgin is referring to how for 3.5 they seem to just drop the names of the wizards who made the spells

I thought Balgin was using the 3.5 version of the adventure for this?  Are you converting everything as we go, Balgin?

Actualy that happened in 2nd ed. Consequently lots of less intelligent players started believing that Lolth's domain was in the Forgotten Realms (despite the adventure actualy giving map references for Gthe Greyhawk map :p). Similarly they started assuming that the 1st ed named artifacts and named spells originated in the new setting.

I never liked the whole named spell thing. It implies that one bloke knows it and only a few close friends of his have learned it (and can be persuaded to share).

3.0, I'm correcting and updating as we go (for instance the enchanted door had damage reduction 30/+3, so now it would be 30/magic).

It just implies that they made or discovered it. Anyone can know it.

Tenser's floating disk, Mordekion's (I think) magnifisent mansion, <insert name>'s hideouse laughter, I could go on.

Loads of spells have the maker's name in them, not just Melf's acid arrow, and I'm sure they are all set in different campaigns, but we still just use their name.

Actualy Tenser, Rary, Bigby and Mordenkainen* were all original characters in Gary Gygax's 1st ed playtesting group (along with Sir Robilar the Fighter). Those adventures were all set in Greyhawk and those characters are part of the world's history and background stuff.

*Yeah, someone knew their Finnish mythology..

Edit: Removed double post!

Ouch. Big squashy ball squashy.

No double posting

Eyeolas it is Tasha's hideouse laughter. OK geek mode: Who was Tahsa? (and then we can remember this is the DTD OOC thread)

Balgin can you explain the luck rules again. (and shouldn't my luck be 13?)

Also did you update all of the character sheets with the damage yet from the ball trap (that decimated us)
