Funny that... I was having a flick through the 3.0 player's handbook, and was wondering how to justify force spells like magic missile. One of the more ridiculous ideas was that he had made a study of the science behind the art of mimes  :tongue3:

Fabian

"Finally" got my draft! Of all the nerve! Storms off to dressing room!  :icon_razz: Kidding! Yeah it took me a while I know to decide on which classes to get the right abilities and feel for my chap. Sorry for the hold-up, chaps.  :icon_wink:

Mime - that has to be the most amazing bard idea ever.  :clap2: I'm laughing just picturing the mime counter-acting sonic attacks by creating a 'box' round everyone.  :laughing6:
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Balgin Stondraeg

A sound proof box.

Hey, then he could use some cantrips to drape a cloth over the invisible box and it'd actualy hold the shape of it then he'd whisk the cloth away (through the box) and the box would disappear (along with the vocal qualities of the contents of the box, for some time).

Fabian

That's so mad it might just work!  :icon_w00t: :icon_razz:

Just out of curiosity, Fabian, why did you go for one level of barbarian then one level of fighter? What do you get from the fighter level that makes it worth taking over another barbarian level? Merely interested to hear your character design reasonings!

Sorry If I am being lazy, what are the races that are forbidden?

Half orcs, any campaign setting specific races (like Kender) any CR+ races (ogres, giants, trolls, drow etc).

Anyway... I'm going to keep my exact combo of classes a secret except for Balgy; the fun of guessing! And yes, Nale kept popping into my head too as the man who took all that multi-classing!  :icon_cool: (and Teufel, no love for this smiley? I like him. You know that every time you diss a smiley, one of them dies?)
I don't like that one because if you write "eight bracket" it comes up a smiley instead!

You only get the XP penalties when one of your non-favoured classes is more than 1 level higher, don't you? I don't think you automatically get whacked with them as soon as you choose a 3rd class...
True. I forgot.

However, when I cross-class I usually only take one or two levels of the second class, so I don't normally think of it like that. Eg I've got a ninth level character, Vorokoth, who is 7th level wizard and 2nd lvl fighter. That's because he's a psychotic vivisectionist who likes to go melee. I've got a Rogue 1/Cleric 6 who was a rough youth until he got converted. Now he's like one of those brothers who help street kids himself.

And of course Kiaphas a) had a mispent youth, b) needs Rogue to represent sailing experience.

I can fix that, just send me a PM so I dont forget.

Mechanics-wise - A bonus feat (Cleave)  which I wanted to try to create his combat style from his background. A little bump to Fort saves didn't hurt either.

Mike (Custom Hobby) wants to play a centaur ('cause I turned down some of his more whacky requests, like the CR+7 mindflayer in a 4th level party). Do you guys reckon you'll have fun getting a centaur onto a ship and into the abbey (with it's polished tiled floros) at the other end? Maybe they'll have a nice stable for him.

Centaurs eh? There's always one player who wants to play something really unusual .

Mr Teufel

Yeah, there's always one. :)

On one side it's true that horses and boats don't mix well.

On the other, it's fantasy.

He's going to be a centaur what, exactly? Like, what class? They're lvl 2 adjustment, so he must be taking a class.

Custom_Hobby

I am thinking of just going with fighter.

Well, if I was going to be a centaur, Barbarian would be my choice. Not only is it traditional if you're not a philosopher-centaur, but the idea of playing a Large Raging creature would be very tempting...

Be nice if we had a cleric in the party tho.

Poor Balgin. Bet he feels like he's herding cats about now.

Rod the Worm

Just to chip in, Centaurs have 4 racial hit dice of Monstrous Humanoid, so are already ECL 6 without any class levels.  I know this why?  I tried to play one in a level 5 game

They do look incredibly fun though - you could just gain xp a little slower and I wouldn't mind too much to be honest, though it might be a bit tough for Balgin making encounters that challenge you and aren't lethal to the rest of us.  I vote Barbarian too, at least for a few levels - +12 strength overall... :icon_cool:
Not quite as impressive as the half-dragon troll character I imagined for one of these power games though, which works out stronger than Tarrasque  :icon_twisted:

Also, if you check the other thread I'm looking to play a cleric - it'll be my first time for that class though, so I'll have to get my balance with it.
