Fabian

Beguilers do indeed rock the block. Duskblades are also great - they're what fighter/mages should be.
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Hi

Provided the GM gives approval..... :icon_wink:

I can play
1) Beguiler to provide anti-trap and help support the wizard. (Unless Fabian wants this)
2) Warmage (super blaster) to provide heavy artillery (if Fabian takes Beguiler)
3) Cleric Ffarlaghn with Travel domain. (can't remember other domain name, but has Haste, etc in it) Party buffs
4) Cleric Kord - Strength Domain & BIG 2H sword. Not much healing, but support for front line
5) Cleric Llir - Magic/Travel domains. Then go one lvl Warlock for Eldritch Theurge, if GM approves. Convert Turn attempts into healing eldritch blasts.
6) Cleric Lathander - super Undead destroyer with Presige Class

I play concepts, not classes. But always a spellcaster.
If both Beguiler/Warmage taken - I'll play any spellcaster that's needed. Hope this OK, Balgin.

Cheers
Paul H
PS With Arcane Disciple Feat, even Beguilers/Warmages can cast domain spells. (hint...)

Wahey, Paul's here :)! He's the other guy I knew would be interested.

Balgin - that 'cleric' class is simply that - a Cleric, but with the Spell Domain. They get 'Anyspell' & 'Gtr Anyspell' as domain spells, which they get from their spellbook. (So they can cast some Wiz spells). Coupled with Magic Domain they can also use any wiz item as wiz half their cleric level (minimum 1).

Nope. I'm thinking of a class from Heroes of Horror. It's called Archivist or something like that. It's a cleric with no turning, no domain slot, a spellbook (and needs to learn their divine spells) but they get some bardic abilities to do with telling the party about a monsters weaknesses so they gain bonuses against it.

Squigface

Two Clerics then? There aren't going to be enough injured people for the both of us :( (or are there *wiggles eyebrows*)

Chrysalis

I was thinking of a good old human paladin, but maybe it will be too much clerical characters...  :icon_scratch:

Updated list:

Mike, intersted, dwarf fighter type (Trollslayer type)

Squigface, interested, cleric

Chrysalis, interested, maybe paladin

Paul, interested, specialist spellcaster (very narrow focus and probably a spontaneous caster of some sort), maybe a few sneaky thiefy skills as well.

Fabian, interested, cleric or Bard (F/MU/T is basicaly bard), Or Wizard type (given the loads of spellbooks and the wizard's guild wizard is probably a good starting class)

Eyeolas - maybe interested, sneaky thief type?

Given the fact that the party shall begin in the employment of a Wizard's guild a wizard PC could easily fit into the group (and possibly get favours from the guild later).

A paladin's okay, especialy since there's currently only one frontline fighter. In fact there's a few instances where a paladin would really shine :).

I've started a few character threads (currently incomplete).

Squigface, I've adjusted your character's ability scores to this:

Str 10 +0
Dex 10 +0
Con 10 +0
Int 10 +0
Wis 15 +2
Cha 12 +1

That still gives you 12 points to spread. I can do it if you like but I'd rather have a little more direction from you.

I've put up starter threads for Ch and Paul too. When other people start working out ability scores I'll be happy to start threads for them too.

Hi

Decided to go for sneaky MU type, (Beguiler), unless someone else wants it.

And yes ..... Paladin very good choice - we need frontline support. A second cleric could also fill this role without the Awful Good alignment problems. (Campaign as much about moral decisions, who you speak to/who you don't just as much as the combat).

Any cleric with Strength and/or War Domains is good. My 2nd choice is Dwarf Cleric of possibly Kord (Strength/Competition) or Joramy (Fire/Destruction Domains).

OK Balgy, how's this look:

Str 12
Dex 13
Con 12
Int 12
Wis 15
Cha 14

Well, that's good but you've still got a point left (you can currently put it anywhere exept charisma or wisdom, if you want to raise one of them you'll have to drop another ability score by 1 to do that). Have you decided on human or half elf yet?

Squigface

I'll be a Half-Elf, and I'll put the extra point on strength ;)

I haven't decided yet. What I have decided, however, is that I'm going to set it somewhere in Oerth (world of Greyhawk), not because a few people have already started associating greyhawk gods with their characters but because I can't stand those Forgotten Realms ten day weeks.

Squigface

Eek, I have only ever played in the "Forgotten Realms" setting.

Whilst I would be very happy for the big nasty evil master plan the villains have got going on to destroy that setting (because I don't like it) I'm not very familiar with it (and can't stand the silly metric weeks). I do have the old 1st edition Greyhawk boxed set.

Squigface, I've done your skill points. You came 2 short of putting a single rank in each one of the skills you wanted. Now we've got to wait for other people to catch up a bit (but you can start thinking about which gods your young priest offers up prayers to and what single feat you'd like to take). You can also start thinking about a character name and if you'd like it to be a man character or a lady character.

Current character status:

Squigface: stats & skills
Ch: stats
Paul: stats

Other people: Nothing yet but I'm willing to create character threads as soon as they start posting points buy stuff in this thread.
