I'll see if I can gather my thought to find a cool character concept  :icon_scratch:

That's okay mate. The game's not likely to be starting for a month or so just yet so you've got plenty of time :). The general tone will hopefuly be more like Dark Awakenings (although I may lapse into DTD mode for some of the larger fights) with possibly a little bit of similarity with Fabian's game around the beginning.

Balgin did you ever get a chance to go over the races I was interested in?

Not yet but I'll get round to it eventualy.

Custom_Hobby

Let me know when you do. I an anxious to start the character now that I know what class I want to go with.

Racial Paragons: No. You can easily become the best of your race by gaining levels (so towards the end of this campaign the entire party would be considered almost godlike). You don't need special rules at level 1 to make you much better than everyone else (especialy since it's not a competition or anything).

Earth Genasi - A what?

Earth Dwarf - I'd rather not get into the whole half elemental thing but also playing a dwarf without the +2 to all saves against magic is a major drawback (especialy with the Greyhawk/FR level of magic present in this campaign)

Urdunnir - A what? Okay, so I've clicked on the link and it seems a bit abusable (I'll probably have to deny it because of a plot related thing that one of the racial abilities would just break :().

So the earth dwarf is almost acceptable but I'd advise against it and the others look like definite no's for now.

Ok how are we doing the stats; straight rolls, 4d6 drop the lowest, or points?

Ok so I guess the eath dwarf it is for me since the rest is out. One last thing is Moradin going to be the chief god of the dwarves in this?

I haven't decided yet.

It doesn't make much sense to me for a dwarf who's more earthy than normal dwarfs to be less resistant. That magic resistance is a very earthy thing (like grounding rods earthing lightning & stuff like that). Taking that away seems to remove a lot of the essence of what it is but if you want to go for it I might allow it. I won't say no, just checking you know what you're letting yourself in for mate :).

Once again, I haven't decided yet since I haven't settled on a setting (although simply calling it the city, the countryside and the rest of the world would actualy cover it since the stuff's generic enough to fit into many settings - therefore it could effectively be run without one as it's a self contained mini setting in and of itself which just happens to need a "rest of the world" to exist around it from time to time at high levels).

I am familiar with the differences with the earth dwarf. I guess I will make my final choice once you decide how we are doing the stats.

Would I be allowed ot join? I have played D&D bfor but only 3.5. I'd like to play as a cleric of some sort.

Fabian

The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

OK, just wondering, where do you guys get all these funky races and classes to play? I only own Players Handbook and the Monster Manual 1.

Well I'd like to restrict it to PHB stuff at 1st level but that's not set in stone yet. There are various books full of classes, prestige classes and races that are a real mixed bunch. Basicaly if people want stuff from outside the PHB (and DMG) then it'll need Gm approval before they can use it (which means I know what they want).

Squigface

So how is this all set up with stats and stuff and score rolling?

I haven't decided yet. We'll aim to begin Night Below around the same time as Deathtrap Dungeon finishes (and that'll be a while yet). This thread is more for people to discuss what they'd like to play for now.
