And charisma to 9 (otherwise you'd have 29 points left to spread). If it's a clerical type I'd assume high constitution, wisdom and charisma (and being a half elf maybe an extra point or two on dexterity too) but it's your character so you do what you like with it :).

I'll go with your advice, it's been a while since I played D&D.

You need a Wisdom of at least 11 to cast 1st level spells; you need a higher than average charisma in order to turn undead more successfully. These are the two important stats for clerics in 3E.
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

If you want to be a competant cleric you'll want a starting wisdom of at least 14 or 15 (depending on wether you want 9th level spells at 17th or 20th level).

Str  18

Con 14

Strength 18 Constitution 14? What's his name going to be? Paper Tiger? Glass Cannon? :p

Custom_Hobby

Physical strength and health do not have to match. Plus isnt average about a 12, his 14 is above that.

Con 14 is pretty good...  :icon_scratch: +2 HP per level. Nothing glass cannon there.

So yes, I want high WIS and CHA scores.

Best way to go with a cleric. I am going for high Str and Con scores. My character is going to be a Knight so I will cover the front line fighter/tank role. I figure if we all know what the others are doing we will have a very well rounded group.

If I were to play, I think it would be arcane caster of some sort then.

If you do then I'd recommend a wizard (given the ammount of enemy spellbooks you'll get to plunder and the fact that you'll need a very versatile array of spells to pick from in order to do themed raids towards the end).

Will there be any spellbooks of use to a Cleric?

As a cleric I think you just pray for your spells. Wizards are the ones who need spellbooks for their magic.

By the way Balgin are you doing as many as 6 players in this one?

Well as far as I know there's only 4 interested players at the moment but I could possibly stretch it to fit one or two more if people showed interest.

Whilst there won't be any spellbooks for clerics there will be lots of nice priesty stuff in the treasure. There is that whatsit class that's a cleric who uses a spellbook if you want (I want to play one of them but haven't got round to it yet).

Y'know... I'm seriously considering creating a real old school style human cleric... or maybe an elf fighter/magic user/thief (as we used to call them) - of course, back in the day, the latter was teh awesome roxxors but now would be a rather underpowered character if leveled willy-nilly.

Hi

A sort of Rogue/Mage class exists  - Beguiler (Edit: from PHBII not Complete Mage). I was thinking of this myself, if noone else played a rogue.

Grey Elf Beguiler Str 10 Dex 16 Con 12 Int 18 Wi 10 Cha 10

6 skill pts/lvl (most rogue skills, plus conc, etc).
Trapfinding as rogue
Spontaneous spellcaster,(large list spells already known, like Warmage), based on Int,  but mostly illusion/enchantment.
No evasion/uncanny dodge/sneak attack.
Other abilities at later levels.

Plays as specialist enchanter/Illusionist, but with more skill pts, HP, and can use Light Armour   :icon_w00t:

Hi

Balgin - that 'cleric' class is simply that - a Cleric, but with the Spell Domain. They get 'Anyspell' & 'Gtr Anyspell' as domain spells, which they get from their spellbook. (So they can cast some Wiz spells). Coupled with Magic Domain they can also use any wiz item as wiz half their cleric level (minimum 1).

As you know I play spell casters, just looking through the posts to see what's needed.....

Cheers
