Regarding skills, do you include fletching in Craft (bowmaking)?  Or is it its own skill?  I'd like to be able to use my watches and other downtime to replenish my ammunition.

Rod the Worm

If the game's going to be starting after DTD finishes, I'll play a pure class wizard since noone else seems to want to.  I've always wanted to do one but never got around to it.  If there's too many characters he can come and go as necessary.  :icon_wink:

Balgin Stondraeg

Well feel free to start creating one. Characters can always join this one later on since it's not stuck on some remote secret island or locked inside a big dungeon :).

By the way Balgin I am just about finished with my wizard. I will have him posated tonight.

Hasta Shieldbreaker, Lawful Good Dwarven Wizard

Str:10
Dex:14
Con:14
Int:16
Wis:12
Cha:12

Skills: 4 ranks each in Concentration, Knowledge: Arcana and Spellcraft, 1 each in Knowledge: Religion, Knowledge: The Planes, Listen, Sense Motive and Spot

1st Level Spells in spellbook:  Shield, Grease, Identify, Colour Spray, Enlarge, Feather Fall

1st level feat: Extend Spell

A daughter of the small Shieldbreaker clan, Hasta was supposed to learn the martial prowess of the rest of her clan.  Instead, she was a good-natured, bookish type who never really got to grips with how best to swing an axe to cleanly decapitate a goblin.  While tagging along an ore delivery to the nearby Ironheart clan, she met their loremaster and was instantly enthralled.  The old dwarf was amused by her enthusiasm for learning and after a few tests determined she had the ability to learn the arcane arts.  Her family were not as keen as her that she should learn magic - "Tricks for weak humans and elves, not befitting a young dwarf maiden to learn!" as her father put it - but eventually they relented since it was clear she'd never make a good warrioress.  In the years since she has taken to her lessons with a natural talent unusual among dwarves, but after listening to the loremaster's tales of his own adventurous youth is beginning to feel a call to adventure herself.

How's that?  :icon_wink:

Damn that is nice. It makes mine feel dull. If you want you can work my knight into your fluff somehow. It would make sense if they knew eachother and a dwarven wizard traveling with a knight seems to work.

Okay, she's got a thread. I think I'll start a slow and rambling introduction for now (so we can finish the other character sheets).

Rod, does she have a pet? They're optional but she's entitled to one if you want it (maybe she's waiting 'till 6th level to get the improved familiar feat and take a lesser earth elemental or something :p).

Rod the Worm

To be honest none of the familiars listed really grab my fancy.  Could I maybe use the rat's benefit (+2 to Fort save) but have a badger instead?  It's faster than a rat and actually has a chance of doing a point of damage if I was foolish enough to send it into combat, but realistically I'm not going to gain any in-game benefit from it, it's just for aesthetics.  It's certainly not at the power level of a small earth elemental or shocker lizard.

Balgin Stondraeg

It'd be a european badger, not an american abdger (or a south african stink badger).

I think badger's more than a normal familiar in terms of general stuff. You'd probbaly need improved familiar for that. Improved Familiar's a great feat to take once you reach 6th level as it lets you take stuff like pseudodragons and imps and things like that. They're generaly better than the usual cat, hedgehog or toad.
You haven't commented in the portraits thread yet :(.

Rod the Worm

Naturally a European badger - I'm an Englishman too  :icon_wink:  Shame it'd need Improved Familiar though - I don't like the feat as I don't tend to use my familiars as much more than characterful additions.

Also, could I swap a rank from Knowledge: Arcana to Decipher Script?

Here's my equipment:

Quarterstaff - free
Sling - free
20 lead bullets - 0.2gp
Backpack - 2gp
Spellbook - 15gp
Spell component pouch - 5gp
Flint and Steel - 1gp
2x Scroll case - 2gp
4x Parchment - 0.8gp
Belt pouch - 1gp
Ink - 8gp
Inkpen - 0.1gp
Waterskin - 1gp

Total: 36.1gp = 13gp, 9sp left over

Yes. I haven't started a paper character sheet for her yet.

I also think your first spellbook is free.

I'll be holding off on my wizards familiar until later (saving it for the improved familiar). Can regular familiar be swapped for something else?

Mike, given that we now have one, do you still want to keep the "token wizard"? Basicaly a familiar is a small animal (as in the kind of thing someone might keep as a pet). Larger things like badgers and horses are just too big really. It also helps if it has some actual magical connection (witch's cat etc). A hamster doth not a magician's pet make.

Custom_Hobby

I was thinking about it (I really got into making it up). Is Rod's going to be a general wizard? I remember the other was a fighter wizard leaning toward arcane archer later. I was going to make mine a standard wizard to cover all the bases for the game. If it is getting too full I guess I can drop it and just keep Thorgrin my Knight.

I know what a familiar is, I want to wait for the improved one later. I was asking since Improved Familiar is a feat I need to take, can I replace familiar with something else since I didn't want to use it.

Just as a foot note I think we still might need a proper rogue.

Rod the Worm

OK, a rat it is then.  Meet Jane the rat - Hasta liked this human name and thought it sounded a bit exotic.  :icon_rolleyes:

Also, I think I'll give her a guitar or nearest equivalent (5gp).  She may not have any ranks in Perform, but why should bards get all the fun?  I'll try to develop her playing and singing as we go on.  :icon_wink:
