Aurum searches the room to see if he finds anything that would interest him or the party might need. The shelves, desk, chest, bed, etc. When he finishes he moves on to the next room.

The books and papers on the table don't really interest Aurum much. The case contains quills, inks and writing materials. The wooden chest has clerical attire within, and also a small collection of wooden puzzle games (like chinese puzzle boxes or that "seven shapes" Napoleon thing). There's also a small bone mug and a pouch containing around 30 silver coins in there too.

Don't you just wish Aurum had a better search skill? You got lucky this time and found a lot of stuff (but not neccessarily everything).

Aurum calls Raul over to the room "Do you think any of this will interest everyone?" He takes his time (takes ten) searching the room to see if he finds anything else.

Mate, you got a 16 on the search check, taking ten'll only give you a 9 (less than you original found).

If Raoul comes over then I'll make some appropriate checks.

Raoul looks at what Aurum's found and agrees that there's nothing much very interesting there. However he does spy a folded piece of paper in the writing case with some interesting notes on it. It seems to be a list of requests made by monks for various documents from the archives.

Aurum moves to the next room to searcha nd see what he finds. If nothing then he moves on to see the tapestry and what else is arround it.

The next room is somewhat smaller and features a pallet with bedding and a writing table. There are a pile of damaged books upon the table which are in the process of being repaired. Beside them are a pot of glue, some brushes, needle and thread and some sheets of soft doe skin.

The table also bears a drawing that looks something like this:

Aurum take the sketch to show it to the group. He hands it to Raul for safekeeping. He moves on to the next area of the basement.

The next area of the cellar is the dead end hall with the mural. That's a suspiciously small cellar for such a large building but that seems to be about it.

Aurum takes his time (20 if need be) and searches for fake walls/hidden doors. He checks the stonework for any indications of such. He checks behind the mural as well.

Okay, methinks Raoul should explain to Aurum that a mural is painted onto the surface of a wall (that's the defintition of a mural). So I doubt he does search "behind" it.

Aurum searches, he takes 20, he observes that the tiles on the panel at the top of the picture look like they might be able to be pressed into the wall individualy. However, they're way out of his reach even if standing on tip toes or something (although there is that stool). Alternatively he could ask for Raoul's assistance.

Aurum waits for Raul to come over and have a look after he calls him. He sits on the stoll while he waits. "Can you figure out the puzzle?"

"Perhaps the elves use base 8?" muses Kiaphas. "My guess is we're to enter the date of the seige the plaque mentions - although puzzles aren't my thing."

"It could be, but the digits either side of the title indicatre 1 through 8, from counting the symbols on each one.  To be a base 8 system, it would need figures representing 0 through 7.  Base coversion was something I had to do a lot of as a clerk, trading between different cities with different currencies.  Did you know that the Rapwindi tribes in the far islands use shells instead of coins and count in base 13 - now base 13 is hard to convert to and from!  But not nearly as hard as assessing your worth is shells! Anyway, I digress."
