Guys! If you make a new thread could you put a link in the OOC thread? I follow by email notification, and can miss new threads!

Quibble (because in the end the DM's always right): I thought speech was a "free action", ie: took no time.

If you add a notification to the "Balgin's Game" section, you'll get notified when a new thread is created.  You'll have to add a notifiication then when you read it, but at least you'll see them appear!

This might be an opportune moment to ask what "HTH" means.

And to use this nifty Dragon Icon: :Walkdrag:

Yes but a combat round is only six seconds long so there are reasonable limits on what you can say (especialy if you're performing strenuous activity or stoping talking to listen to other people too). So it generaly boils down to a short phrase per round (usualy 3-4 words tops).

With the speach you guys posted 'though I simply read it alloud, in character, and timed myself.

I've still got that (and all the bits from it too). I got to buy the new version today (with virtauly no rules) too even 'though it's not supposed to be on sale 'till saturday yet. So I've got nice double sided (non cardboard) tiles that my brother can't cut in half with a pair of scissors to piss me off (yep, one of my old tiles is sellotaped back together) and the lovely old rules to play it with :).

It is when you see the whole map with the compass beside it :p.

Then is the first map wrong? Just looking at the layout combined with where the stair case is on both maps one of them must be wrong.

Nope. The compass on the first one's practicaly diagonal :p. The reason it's layed out that way is that the top floor and the cellar maps are both on the same page and they fit better that way :p. And it makes it easier for me if all the map symbols are the right way up.
