(Part 3) The Abbey on Guardian

Overseen by Rogan, Aurum begins searching the room. Well for starters there's this nice big book on the desk but he never was one for much reading so he leaves it where it is (let me know if anyone else wants to take a look at it).

The bookshelf doesn't interest him much either (most of it's contents seeming to be collections of poetry from Drechanon and Elkia) but, after checking the other door will open, he heads for the chest. Placed neatly atop a pile of folded robes are a priest's ceremonial skullcap made of polished leather with inlaid silver trim. Beside it are a square cup of beaten copper, with an inscription, and a small wooden box carved with decorative patterns. The inscription on the cup reads "To our Basyd, let your mind transcend the limitations of the body."

Aurum turns to Rogon "Brother take a look at this (showing him the inscription) and the books. I will stand guard." Aurum hefts his shield and raises Axerager in a readied position while looking around.

Yes, Naedath is more interested in the books than he was in the wall charts :). he isn't actualy actively searching for anything but he's casting his eyes over the spines to see if there's anything he hasn't read before. He occassionaly makes comments like "good, good, not so good, good, got, oh very good.... really? I didn't realise he wrote another before he died, I must get a look at that one later. Good, mediocre, good, not so good...."

Whilst examining the contents of the chest Aurum discovers that the small decorative box contains a key. It's a propper key for a heavy duty lock, not some fiddly little musical box kind of thing for intricate stuff.

Aurum takes the key and shows it to Rogon. He then puts it in his pouch (not hiding it from the group). Aurum starts to think there are too many people in a small space. "I will move into the next room while you finish searching through here" Aurum cautiously advances through the next door ready for battle, just in case.

Raul enteres the room as Aurum leaves.  "Just writing supplies in those fancy chests out there.  Ivor, why don't you scan through some of this stuff, see if any of the stuff they were working on might explain why all these monks are teminally unwell."

Then Raul will follow Aurum, since he doesn't want anyone to be left alone.

Rogan takes a look at the spines or covers of the books to see what sort of things they contain.  Applicable knowledge checks apply. ;)

"Um, yes, that sounds like a good idea."

Ivor puts his lenses away in a pouch and starts examining the manuscripts, then wanders over beside Rogan to look at the books.

Kiaphas is keeping an eye out for a short club of some sort. A blunt weapon might be useful vs. corporeal undead, and his Shillelagh spell would improve that further. His trident's not much good indoors, and his scimitar is not a great weapon, against undead especially.

The door opens into another narrow corridor leading to small cells lining the other wall of the upper floor overlooking the garden. Ivor spends some moments studying the workings in the scriptorum and as he does so old Naedath opens the book upon the desk and leafs through it. it seems to contain timetables detailing which monk should be attending which tasks, and when. The most recent pages are dated yesterday.

Raul takes an interest in the chest in room c, as he passed through.  Anything of interest there, Balgin?

Ivor scans the books, looking for anything interesting, magical or otherwise, then takes another look at the body. Given that it appears there's a rogue undead creature on the island, he takes a closer look to see if there's any clues not immediately obvious to one with less magical knowledge.

Having gleaned everything he can from the scriptorum, Ivor continues  through (C), down (D) and round to (I) to complete the circuit, looking for anything unusual.

Yes, it's the same chest Aurum searched (although he's swiped the key by now). I can repeat the contents if you want mate :).

Aurum turns around and annouces "I am checking the cells." He searches the cells to see if he can find anything. Once he is done with that he proceeds to the end of the hallway where he sees a door.
