Attempted to make magical smoke armor.  I don't think that it does look anything like smoke.

It does look good, and I think you can easily say that is what it is supposed to be.

I suppose that would depend on what you think magical smoke armour is mean't to look like (as I haven't a clue what you mean by it). This guy's always looked like a chaos dwarf to me (I think it's all the vertical slits in the visor). Must be ebcause I remember when chaos dwarfs actualy looked like small chaos warriors, not cartoony mini babylonian wannabe's :p.

Looks great, and it's a nice effect on the armour, how'd you do it?

I agree with Balgy on the CD thing they should look like mini CW, rather than chimney hatted mini Ogre faces.

Unfortunately it was also the only time you could ever find a dwarf in full plate armour. Lots of roleplayers have been known to play dwarfs in full plate but the only minis they could use had to be the old Citadel chaos dwarfs because nobody else wanted to sculpt them in heavy armour :(.

Thats a really nice paint job-not just the smoke colours but the accents and highlites on the gold parts-especially the lil thing on the helmet.

Did you  use Tamiya Smoke?

The annoying thing is that however you glue him together, his left hand's never touching his sword :(.

It's a two piece mini. The head & left arm are a single piece that plugs into the body (with a bad fit so there's a bit of swivel) and yet, however you position it, the left hand never touches the sword unless you lever the left shoulder really out of place (disjointed) so he's never actualy using his two handed sword but somehow doing a GW 90's "I'll balance this greatsword on my little finger" pose whilst supporting it against his body and bringing up his left hand to grip it and actualy hold it's weight.

I based coated the whole armor with Reaper PRo Armor Grey then started making the swirls with Reaper Pro Ash Grey, and then used various combos of Reaper gray to try and highlight the "smoke".

The mini itself was a fun one to paint overall.  The forehead of the helmet screamed free hand.  I was going for something more elaberate but it didn't work out.  I need to do some practice with my free hand skills before I can do something else other then straight lines.
