LOTR stuff

Okay, well since I've opened up my dedicated Reaper carry case to the camera today I decided to open up the LOTR one too (well actualy I made the "decision" to open it first but put off actualy doing so 'till I'd photo'd the reaper stuff 'cause the Reaper case was an awful lot easier to get at).

Let's start with some pictures of the best dwarf in fantasy films to date (and unfortunately that's not saying much when you consider how there's only been about four or five of them, the cool LOTR one, the crud*py american "D&D" one, the midgit Witch's familiar in some really crud*py old black and white comedy "horror" film from the 30's and the one with the whip from Hawk The Slayer (possibly one of the worst fantasy films of all time)).

And because you can never have enough of the son of Gloin!

More to follow as I organise the pictures.

Nice work!!

If the 1st mini had a cape it would truely look like a slow motion shot of him swinging that axe.

Do you have the one of his sitting on a dead ork?

Yes but I haven't painted him yet. The one on the right's my favourite (although the one leaning on his axe from a more recent boxed set's got potential to be good too).

And now for some pictures of the most beautiful woman in that series of films. She had  alovely round beautiful face, not an oblong stretched horse faced mong thing bolted onto the front of some skeletal zombie body thing with no personality (yes I am thinking of someone else who was in those films and had this crud*py Liv name).

I actualy knew an Eowyn once, Eowyn Castle (younger sister to Morgan Castle, a one time friend of mine who borrowed all my Tunnels and Trolls books and moved house the next day without telling me, fortunately he left most of them with his neighbour who forgot to tell me untill I met him 3 or 4 years later and mentioend how Morgan ahd blatantly ripped me off :p).

The one on the right's a spare and she's for sale (same paint quality but with slightly different features obviously). It was part of the whole "buy two of each because of the low casting quality/chance of mucking up a paintjob, paint them both thens ell the spare one" thing that got as far as me buying two of everything, painting some of them, and never selling any of them. Fortunately I got to paint up a whole fellowship box and send them all to Sally & Kev for their kids to play with so that's cleared up a bit of space :).

Now this version of her is just begging to have  ashield slapped on the left arm. That's actualy the main reason I haven't painted the second one yet, I simply haven't decided if I want to put a shield on her or not (because the perfect shield comes from a blister pack of four old (Grenadier?) saxons and it sort of belongs to one of them).

I love that nick in the blade dow near the tip. I know it's a casting defect but it actualy looked really cool so I left it as it was and painted it. when looking at the pictures in this thread please remember that it's the same lighting as the Face of 40k thread (and the one there where I put it in shade to show how much the sunlight was killing details, just remember that with relation to this lot, okay).

So harsh in the Liv assessment - she's lovely; my ex looked a bit like her an' all.  :icon_wink:
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?
