real life seems to have stabilised again  :icon_w00t:

the last few days i've been able to get some hobby time in. i'm making very small progress and finding it a little daunting to be prepping minis again (usually most evenings i kick back with a beer or a book)

well anyway i have a small project to do before i start the golden demon project.

the hardest thing i'm finding to get back to is the continued concentration, but hopefully soon i'll have something to show!

I am glad things have been leveling out. The GD project will be in the mail to you very soon. I will let you know as soon as it is in the mail. Just in case I can pick anything else up for you on this end make a list of things you will need that you don't have yet.

I think I know what you mean.  I've got two small girls, one only a few weeks old, but when I'm on "hobby time", I just have to satisfy myself with making very small amounts of progress each night.  But it all comes together eventually.

All I managed to get done last night was to finish of the base of some 6mm Naps - drybrushing some already painted sand and then glueing on some green flock.

Its been like three weeks to get just this one base of 9 6mm Hussars done, but it feels just as good when its finished as it does when I get a base done in an evening :)

really pleasantly surprised today.  a GW mini that many have slated on various forums actually turned out to be really nice, well cast, and Andy Foster's razor saw lived up to its reputation.

i have no pics yet, but i'm glad to say my litle concoction is working! i've been following some advice about making mock ups first (well in this case pinning and posing the mini before taking all the mould lines off)

it has helped me see what i'm doing and how itwill eventually be put together.  i'm going to have a little sculpting practice with some pro-create at some time on the project.

the next few days will see the removal of mould lines and repair/sculpting work on the mini.  i have a new camara too!

ok so after much blu-tack and a bit of swearing here are some shots:






there's a lot of mould lines to clean up and putty work to be done.  plus i have to resculpt the mouth of the squig (originally it was closed)  but you get the idea   :icon_cool:

Looking really good.  I like the dynamic movement in the scene :)

If it was mine (which it isn't!) I might be tempted to try the dwarf leaning back a bit further.  I don't know if you tried this already.

And being hyper-sensitive (so don't take it personally!), the squig-riders right arm looks a bit too relaxed, like it would be at march. Given that if he is charging down the dwarf, would his arm not be further forward and less bent? I.e., more branced for an impact :icon_scratch:

It all looks great just as it is, though! :)

the rider's arm is not fixed at all yet (sagging blu-tack). i did try the dwarf in all manner of angles of lean and this one seemed to be best.

the aim is to have the squig and dwarf interacting and the poor gobbo hanging on for dear life.

That all makes a bit more sense, then :)  I'm sure that paint will only improve what is already a great diorama!

another relatively productive night!  i have broken open a pack of procreate and been gap filling. things are moving along smoothly and i am taking my time so not to mess things up.

that procreate works quite well but i can't stand the packaging, it keeps sticking to the pack (and me) when i try to get it out.  works well with metal tools (my waxfive).

moreupdates to follow and then i'll start a WIP post

forehead or nose grease/sweat works really well to stop it sticking  (and to pick up small amounts of putty)  it works really well with applying gold leaf too (from my fine art days)

i think i may have done all the sculpting work now.  tomorrow i will get some shots of it up and then prime it to see where my eyes have failed me  :icon_tears:

things do seem to be shaping up and some of the tricks are being re-learned.    now to prime white or black?
