Pedagogical toy - 54 mm

Well I've warned you all. I'm a scatterbrain when it comes to sculpting. Doing the step by step I felt that I had to learn the basics of the skeleton better. So to that end I did a bigger one, taking care to get everything as right as possible. Ribcage is going to be hollow to fit the lungs and other bits. I'm thinking of making an anatomical garage kit out of this one with skeleton, intestines and muscles. Trying to get producers of teaching materials interested - especially in providing professional medical knowhow to really get all the details right. That would benefit me as well.

Do you want to cast it in resin or metal?

That's the complex part. I'd really want the skeleton to be some sort of hard plastic (like resin but preferably more durable) but musculature and intestines to be a softer type of plastic like latex or so. Don't know who could handle such a thing?
And of course tha latter wouldn't make painters happy but might make assembly easier as well as being more infantily pedagogical - letting the soft parts be soft so to speak :icon_razz:.

It sounds like an interesting project and you are off to a great start  :icon_cool:.

I'm not sure as to how much use it would be as a teaching tool, because of it's small size (54mm is not very good as a demonstration tool).

I was thinking more along the line of having it cheap enough that every student could borrow one. Not something for the smaller kids but rather college stuff I guess.

Ahh, I see where you are coming from now. 

I think it would make a nice desk ornament as well.  It would certainly be a conversation starter  :icon_cool:.

But it's fun to try out. It's in fact the largest sculpt I've ever attempted.
