I'm waiting to see the direction Steve goes with the sci fi versions before I decide on how to paint them...

Greens, greys, blacks, or blues... or perhaps a dark brown.

could be... a nice black woollen coat.... or very dark grey maybe.

It depends of the feel of what Steve does... Germanic, French, Russian.

I have the Kindred so these are for opposition... maybe with undead Munchkins as bullet shields

You read my mind but more SS.

Black coat, red armband with white strips on the edges and GW War Hammer white Ork symbol on the arm band too.
The boots will be dark brown and also the belt and pouch.
The shield will be red with the GW War Hammer white Ork symbol on it.
The shoulder strap will be red and the buttons silver.
The dagger handle will be white or red and the skull silver.

That's as far as I have worked out what colours to use.

The Noblin project is stalled for other things (and a lack of inspiration) at the moment but the feel will be German when I do get to it.

In WW1 they would have used axes and maybe even make shift shields when fighting in the trench's, so he would fit in with the armed one's if your going for a WW1 feel to them.
This would mean they will fit better as opposition for the Kindred and maybe increase sales of both.  :pound: :pound:

But colours don't really matter, its the feel of the mini.

Steve said the weapon was sort of Thompson M1A1.. which was designed in WW1.. used in the 20's and WW2 and afterwards (vietnam even by the VC)

So a between the wars look could work well too.

Someone mentioned North Africa for Kindred.  Could go with Palestine, North West Frontier Western Front, Eastern Front, China between the wars (the british shaped helmet was used by US sailors and marines.. fancy Kindred in naval tropical whites?)

That of course leaves things wide open for the Noblins.. Eastern warlords, Afghan tribesmen, Turks, WW1 Germans, North African Germans, SS, Brownshirts, Russians, Czechs, Poles, French western front, French North Africa, Tuaregs and Arabs.  You could even go Africa and all the colonies there with tropical uniforms.... just need to persuade Kev to do a solar Topee for the Kindred officer as well.

The greatcoat was used by loads of people.. the colours and details just varied.. as the Noblins greatcoats are fantasy, the details don't matter.

Hmmm multicoloured chinese quilted and embroidered greatcoats, and Naval troops in tropical whites....
