Dragon Head WIP - Skull finished (image heavy)

You may remember from a while back my strange wading bird, which I was ridiculously claiming at the time was a WIP for a dragon head:

Well I've finally finished the skull. It's a bit over the top, I could have done it a bit more roughly but as it's a learning process for me, this sculpting lark, I wanted to go the whole hog. Gotta learn the full monty before you can work out where you can make the short cuts, right? I'm not gonna put Kev's or Snuurg's in the shade but I'm quite proud of how it's going so far:

Finally here's a shot with the lower jaw in situ:

There's another shot of this in my Cheddermonger gallery, taken without the flash. In this pic the lower jaw isn't quite finished yet but since it was taken I've added incisors in the tip of the jaw as well as the canines that are just glued on in the pic, carnassials, socketed them properly, added depth to the chin and put a smooth(ish) finish on it.
I've also just made a 2 part mold of the upper section to assuage my paranoia about making a donkey's bum of it at this stage. Hopefully I can get casts (assuming I can find anyone selling a resin or plaster I can use) and use them to add the musculature. It'll also give me a chance to play with lower jaw positioning. So what do people think so far?

Looks good mate  :icon_wink:  It has a slight Tyrannid look to it if you ask me but once painted will be more Dragon-esque methinks

That skull is great. Very reptilian. The detail on that dragon will be quite intensive when its finished...

Nope. I'm going to sculpt the squishy bits onto one of the casts I hope to make. *fingers crossed*

Great news, so then there will be a chance of getting the skull and a full dragon?

Erm... basically the idea was for a dragon head for my girlfriend's birthday. Something she could paint up. Once I've finished hers I suppose I could ask her nicely if I could use some of the spare skulls to create something different (it is her present after all, it would lose a little something if everyone had one), perhaps even a full body. This is (in parallel with George) my first attempt at pushing putty so I wouldn't expect anything too great if she says yes. Again this all assumes I can get some resin and that my mold (which is also my first attempt) actually works.

A quick update of work on the dragon, I'm not reet good at remembering to take photos of what I'm doing so these are mostly me trying to work out where I'm going wrong:

I had to make new teeth I just couldn't get them to cast. Built a bit of spine with some Superfine white Milliput attached it to the cast and then started trying to tack some muscles onto it. 

This is where I'm up to as of tonight. And this illustrates exactly the reason for taking the pictures. It doesn't look as lumpy as that to me. And finally a quick close up:

I'm quite proud of the eyelids... but you know... small things...  :D
