Multi-level decks, more than once mast, cannons, hatches and doors :)   What the SL ship lacks is a bit of rigging (not too much, or it gets in the way of gaming) and, of course, a Jolly Roger! :)  Maybe a little bigger, too (although the Bucaneer is a big ship!), depending on what I was wanting it for and how much I was paying!

Crew would be good, too, but lots of people make those!

I suppose the only advice I can really give, not knowing much about ships and the like, is something that looks like it works. It's the same advice I'd use for a dragon, it's gotta look like it will work. What sort of boat are you looking for? Fantasy or historical. What you choose alters how your going to build it. A fantasy one can be a little more whimsical in shape and decor, the elven giant outrigger type destroyers from Warcraft for instance. Historical? Well then you've got a whole slew of historical references but are you looking at the atypical ship-of-the-line type from historical fiction or the more common agile sloop type ships pirates were more likely to possess?

I want it to work with both fantasy and historical (I know that is impossible) so I will lean a little more toward historical but it is for gaming. I want people to be able to use the ship for gaming or for making a nice display.

This will sound a bit odd..but...uh...do you remember the cartoon called "Pirates of Dark Water"?  In it there was an awesome fantasy pirate ship-huge sized, with the skull of some creature on its front end.

 Im trying to find a cool image of it-no luck yet.

Noone mentioned the most obvious thing (It's pirates fer fecks sake not sunday school) BOOZE!!! PLenty of it! Barrels bottles, jugs and all.

As other people have said, usable for gaming, great as a display piece and extras so you can change it from a normal ship to something dark\chaotic evil looking.

Maybe a conversion kit or kits to alter it.

Flat based !!!!  As said b4 but cant stress enough, all the decent ships I have seen for sale are replica models and have the full hull with rudder etc and you cant stand them up.

I've been looking for a Dwarven ship for a while, they dont use wood so its all metal but getting a fantasy ship which isnt wood is near impossible.  Only way would be to customise a newer style model but so much needs to be done that its basically a scratch built job and beyond me  :icon_tears:
