In memory of my cat

My first cat, nay my first true pet died today   . He was hit by a car, and I can only be happy that it was a responcible person who brought the cat to the police so they could find out who owned it. He was my little kitten, and noone can ever replace him. I also feel almost as if it were my fault since I was the one who let him out today, but I know it isn't. He was a wonderfull moggy, even though he used to wake us up in the night, so that w could feed him or let him out. I was the last person to stroke him, my mother and father didn't even get to see him this morning excempt when they let him in  He was the finest cat anyone could own, and although I'm not really religious I hope he's up here in Kitty heaven chasing mice made out of raw salmon and catnip.  So pay your last respects to Greebo, we only had him for (roughly) a year, but it was one of the best years of my life.

I've already read your post on the FoD Squigface, and I can say little but that I know what you feel. We had maybe half a dozen of cats who died in such a way when I was younger and still leaving by my parents (cars, or poisoned because of foxes/badgers poison), and it was a real pain every single time :(

The strangest thing is that every time we lost a cat, there was a kitten falling from nowhere as if to replace the one who left us...

Now I live in an appartement with my wife and my daughter, and we have two cats (Gah! As my daughter would say). One of them is a big girly a little bit fat, because we live in kind of a big city and we can't imagine them outside. Hopefully, they have holidays sometimes when we go to the in-laws, who live in the country, in the middle of fields.

I don't know very well what to say to ease your pain, but what was already said. In a couple of days you should consider looking for another kitten, you'll have no troubles finding somebody giving one of those poor things.

Another cat won't replace the one you love, but it will somehow fill the blank...

..and hey, maybe that's what your cat would have wanted. He knew you loved felines, and he would probably want you to look after another one...

And I would get another cat if I could, but there isn't enough time for the vaxinations and such befor we move to England next summer so untill then I will be catless :(

Sorry to hear it mate.  I had a cat, Alf, who was the spitting image of your cat. had him for almost a year and then he went missing, havent seen him since Nov 6 2006  :icon_tears:  looked for him for 2 weeks and posted leaflets and stuck up posters but just disapeared....

Theres plenty of cats needing homes over here mate, you may even come across Alf :)

Sorry for you mate, I know the feeling when you lose a pet.

I grew up with a cat (Tiger) and had her for 16 years, till her body started to fail her and we ended up having to get her put down.

It was years later we got another one and she's 19 years old and still going, cranky and more odd than when she was young.

You could check the RSPCA here to rescue a cat that would be put down if not taken by someone.

I've never paid a penny for any of my cats, theres so many rescue places that you can grab one from.  As Wristy says look for ones that put animals down after a certain period, most of the cat homes and sanctuarys wont do this so at least they are safe in those.  The priority is getting one on a death sentence !!!

We might well do that, but it's a bit too far into the future to think about. The really horrible bit is seeing my mother so sad, she LOVED that cat with all her heart. I have never seen her cry befor today and now she randomly stars bawling like a baby. My Grandmother is also very sad, she is a cat lover and has owned a lot of them, and she was really looking forward to seeing our cat come wedensday :( booked her plane ticket just a bit too late to see him while he was still alive :icon_tears:

Like I said on the FOD, I am sorry for your loss. I know how much we can get attached to our pets. I love animals and currently have a dog (that I said was for the kids).

One of our cats went missing on my birthday this year, so Christmas Eve will mark 3 months of her missing. My mum has cried so much. Her brother misses her. We all do.

For those that have lost cats, a lady was reunited with her cat after being apart 10 years.  It was microchipped though so thats how they got back together, I'd advise getting them chipped just to be on safe side.

Another cat my mum knew went missing for 9 months, came back minus an eye so sometimes they dissapear to heal themselves.

Dont give up hope !!!!
