Yes, now can I tidy up all the confusing posts in this thread now? I know I haven't posted an update yet and that's because I'm lazy :p. It'll be coming soon 'though.

Ok since I got that sorted Aurum heads for the building with the smoke coming out of it. "Maybe we will find someone alive in there." He points to the smoke with his axe.

Not so lazy now.

The main shed is barely even that. It's more like a tent really. It consists of six solid wooden posts and a stone chimney that rises above the central hearth. The "walls" of the building are canvas tent sides with ties and toggles to roll them up when the weather dictates it, or to keep them pegged down to keep out the harsh winds of winter. The floor is bare earth, all signs of vegetation long since trodden into the ground, not to regrow for many a long year. Racks and crate positioned about the room bear various tools, chisels, mallets, awls, saws, chalk, string and various other common everyday impliments you'd expect to find in such a workplace. Lengths of cut timber and trimmed stone are stacked up against the northern end of the workshop.

Two potter's wheels stand to the south beside a grinding wheel for sharpenning blades and a water trough. A pair of large tables along the east "wall" bear a large number of unfinished pots and jugs (of the same type as are used to store the famous Guardian Fire). Three pallets and a small wooden chest are positioned near the kiln. Lying on one of the pallets is a large man wearing a dust stained jerkin and well worn britches. He is snoring gently and an empty jug of Guardian Fire lies close beside him.

Alarian approaches the man quietly and gently tries to shake him awake.

Aurum looks around for another mug so he can try the ale. He looks in the chest.

"Good to find someone alive and unharmed on this cursed island!"

Ale? Guardian Fire is more like brandy or whisky really. Anyway....

The slumbering man shakes his head a little and the snoring stops. A heartbeat or two later it starts again, shortly to be interrupted by a snorting splutter. His blurry eyes open and he struggles to focus on the group of individuals before him.

"What? Morning already is it? Oh go away and let me be. I don't work here any more and I can do what I like."

Imagine him sounding a bit like Geoffrey McGivern (the original voice of Ford Prefect) but less sober).

Fine Brandy then. :shrug:  Either way the dwarf would want some. Oh and what did he find in the chest?

"No task masters here. We are here to make sure no one else winds up dead." Aurum keeps looking around.

"hey leave that alone," scowls the drunkard, "tha's my stuff tha' is" as Aurum opens the chest full of spare clothes.

"Sorry, do you have an extra mug? I could use a drink."

"Oh yeah, yeah, sure. There's one aroun' here somwhere. Now where did they put it?" His bleary eyes wander the room slowly focussing on the real world.

"Who's 'they'?" asks Kiaphas. "If there are more people here, we need to check that they're safe from whatever happened to the monastery."

[Balgin Stondraeg]

"What? People?" The man begins to focus on Kiaphas, "hey, where is everybody? Should be working, pounding away t' make my head hurt...." He flops back down on the bed. "I need a drink," he says.

Aurum stops looking for the mug "so how many people worked with you? Also is there anything you can tell us about what you are doing here?"
