I am busy trying to paint a black and white Alice but It was getting annoying and I want something to do quickly for a change.

Decided to do Galadriel, just messing on, try a couple of new techniques, quite speedy, nothing serious.

Ended up painting this in two days and it's probably one of my best! lol
So I'm probably going to take it to Games Day and enter it, that is aslong as the bigger base won't get disqualified (I have no idea) and will also have it at Paris.

So figured I'd show It off, as its the first in months I'v been reasonably happy with.

Very nice work. The base & freehand are great. I hope you place well with her. The hair is great.

yep very nice work mate  :clap2:  The cloak looks a bit dirty on the front compared to the back.  Theres more yellowing to the front and I think a bit more white highlighting would tie it in more with the back.  Great work though and I hope u win something with it.  I dont think the base will be a problem and they will give u extra marks for it  :icon_wink:

Would not have thought of using blue on the cloak like that, was it base or added after.

the freehand is nice (maybe a little dark)

i'd like to see some more shading where the skin meets the cloth. still it is a crackin paint job.

Can't say he wasn't an inspiration! (Check out the freehand on the front of his, and the front of mine lol)

The cloak was completely experimental, and it wasn't meant to look like that (but it looks better than intended)
I basecoated with P3 Menoth White base (50/50 Snakebite/Bleached Bone), then highlighted with P3 Menoth White Highlight (Bleached bone) the extreme highlights with Menoth White (Skull white)

Then I didn't want to shade with brown, so I thought, bugger it, il use blue. Jeremie always bangs on about it, and I have just bought a figure from Alex Holmen who used blue in his shading.

So I just lined VMC Medium Blue (50/50 Midnight blue/Ultramarine blue) into the recesses, then started glazing my base coat over the top to smoothen it out. Which in turn created some crazy nuances! What was origionally just intended to have blue and creams, then had blue, green, yellow, hints of purple, creams. Which was well cool!

Consider it an experiment that went well!
