That's a dwarf?

Okay, so my ugly pumpkin headed french dwarfs now have a new dwarf to join their ranks (and according to the rules he is a dwarf even 'though he's the biggest humanoid model in the game).

So here's a picture (with an armoured Boris for size comparisson). The head's been left off for a reason that shall soon become obvious....

Here is his head:

Yep, ugly head innit? I mean, with that body the head is just too thin and the long thin pointy helmet really isn't helping. There's meant to be some skinny horns and a huge plume to go on it as well but they just make the head look even more insubstantial really and considering how tough he is I think he deserves a better helmet (but the head and face is okay). I'm thinking comic book 1950's sci fi "viking" helmet (you know, an american football players helmet/motorbike crash helmet with wings on the side and stuff). It would make the head look more in proportion with the rest of his body.

Now, I do happen to have an alternate head:

Now that head on tjhat body certainly looks more dwarfy. Now he stops looking like some beanpole and looks more like a giant dwarf (and the way the head's really too big for that body actualy matches the army style, especialy considering the fact that it's bald, maybe I should stick the plume on top as a topknot to make it look as ugly as the others, or maybe I should not).

Unfortunately this head comes from an OOP Ral Partha "giant 15' avatar of Clangeddin" miniature:

I never got round to sticking the head on before (might've glued it on lightly once but never seriously). I don't like the earrings and have been tempted to carve them off. I actualy think I like the overall style of the armour on this one a bit more but I do like some of the intricate pattern work on the other one (there's just too much of it 'though and it looks like some puffy high elf thing). I'm really not sure it's worth ruining one ugly miniature to make another ugly one slightly better looking (and then try to find a way to convert/sculpt a helmet on too). Here's a size comparisson shot of the two giant bodies:

Here's a picture of the two heads side by side (placed on the box so you can see what the complete default head should look like, the cover photo's approximately the right size too):

And here's a headshot: should I call him Surrallan?

I know why silverbeard is so big (he is the avatar of a god), but why is that 'dwarf' sop damn big?

Because he's a giant (but a "dwarf giant" who's part of the dwarven race, or at least part of their culture).

I that the old Silverbeard avatar. That giant just doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of their wild range of dwarves.

Dr.Evil

I under stand why they did him that way, It's to give him a stretched look as if it's a Dwarf that's been pulled to that hight.

Still nothing i would want to be given or payed to take.  :icon_wink:
