And if not there is always David and myself who can help with sending things over from this end of the pond.

Balgin, the offer was that you could do me a favour and in return I'd do you a favour as I know you don't have paypal.

Don't worry either way, I'll take the colonials up on their offer at some point  :icon_mrgreen:

Okay, well some more colour scheme discussion would be nice but I'd like to request that when I start posting WIP shots here then all non painting related posts get removed, right?

Custom_Hobby

Sure, either one of the Global Moderators or I can do that.

Well mine arrived today. I'll see about putting some pictures up tomorrow. She seems to have rather a heavy coating of amneotic fluids (you know, the afterbirth). For one so young she bears some unfortunately mold liens (the only annoying one runs across the grain of the hair and is quite raised, there is another on the inside of a curve that's awkward to get at).

Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning off this mold releasing agent (or whatever it is). She's a good mini and I'd like to do her properly (insert dodgey inuendo smiley here :p).

She doesn't have the traditional Klocke face, he's narrowed the jaw a lot which is a shame because it actualy makes her look less attractive when she's got a triangular head (that narrow jaw just doesn't go with those broad cheekbones). I'll see if I can hide the extreme angle of the cheeks with paint (less shading) but I can't make any promises (if I felt more confidant and a lot more experienced then I'd see about greenstuffing them back on a bit - yes she'd still be gaunt, she just wouldn't look like she'd caught the lower half of her face in a vice or something).

Give her a quick wash in hot soapy water. That'll take it off.

Custom_Hobby

Yep that will take care of it. You shoudl do that for all of your figures really. I will usually do it after removing the mould lines and any other filing that I have to do. Just gets everything off at one time.

Well this morning the lady arose from her bed and soaked in a long warm soapy bath, basking in the luxurious comfort of washing up liquid in an empty (and washed) iced cream tub for a good twenty or thirty minutes. Emerging from the bath she indulged in a cold shower (under the tap) to ensure that every inch of her body was wide awake before returning to her cozy bed (lined with foam from her native land) to dream away the day 'till night came (or at least the late hours of the afternoon).

A gift with words. By the way Balgin do you ever write short stories?

Not often although I love telling stories to a willing audience :p. I can write stories but I never bother to finish them (because I know how the rest of the story will go long before I get anywhere near finishing it).

I remember trying to write one story and suffered a six year writer's block on the wording of a sentence just over two pages in. When I finaly broke that one, I got another two or three years' writer's block before I was able to write another page or so (which is really frustrating as I'd had the whole story worked out right from the beginning - that'd be about 13 year's ago now). After the three year gap I just jotted the rest down in note form so I wouldn't forget it.

Sorry folks but I haven't started painting her yet. Monique is suffering from Mold (and not the sort you'd usualy associate with the dead either). It's the kind that's got lines you could drive a train on :(.

I've scrud*ed the inside of that skirt with my scalpel and there's still this huge obvious ridge running across the inner edge (which will be very visible to people like me when she's finished). It's too narrow for my shaky hands to get at and too big for people to not notice.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've got a set of rifflers (curved jeweler's files or something) tucked away somewhere that I got given as a present to file bits on mini's with years ago. I never got the hang of them but I could dig them out and give it a go couldn't I?

I know that Ritual uses cocktail sticks with fine sandpaper glue to them...might be worth a try...I like reaper stuff but the castings are very hit and miss.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, their was a really cool red with gold trim version in the reaper magazine recently...

Balgin Stondraeg

Well. I was going to do it the way I did the Rackham Hammergirls. But I got them and did the colour scheme on them instead. So, like their armour but maybe with a slight red wash over it, or some sort of mild rest effect if I can work one out.

I have only two suggestions. Thin coat of green stuff would fill the gap and fill the hole.  The second would be to use a polishing bit in a dremel to work out the  scratch.  You of course would need to reprime that area but It would work out fine.
Long term exposure to the Orb of Confusion will give you...er.. confusion!

I invite you to my dot on the web: http://www.darkgrinminiatures.com

Okay, what's a dremmel? Seriously, I've never seen one and don't know what it looks like. I've heard it's a sort of drilling, cutting destructive tool but that's all I know (and since it's an electric power tool it's probably way out of my £480 a month budget which easily drops to around £120 after all bills and living expensses have been taken care of).

I've been meaning to scrud*e it down a bit more then putty it back up but haven't managed to find the motivation to scrud*e it any more yet (simply too depressing :().
