Thanks.  Base comes apart to remove figs to play or to add new ones for photos.

Fantastic base and the leader is excellent  :clap2:...

It looks to me (and I may be completely wrong) that most of the effort went into the base and the leader and that the troops that were left are not painted to a similar standard.

Are the troops painted in 'rank and file' style or is it just the pic?

It all looks good but the step in level of painting, from the leader to the troops, stands out.

I do admit that the ranks are actually going back in time.  King Thorgram was completed a few months back.  While the halberders were done a couple of years ago.  The base was completed the fastest out of everything. It took about 2 hours of sit down work once I figured out how I wanted everything layed out.  Due to time restaints,  I will not be able to touchup the others before the deadline of the contest.

*Funny head on*
The base reminds me of a pizza i left in the oven.  :icon_razz:

Great work on the base, the edge of it could do with being paint black to stop it drawing the eye away.

Do the Griff's mean anything on the pillar.

No, I chose a design and went for it.  This was actually the second one I made.  The first one I melted by spraying primer on it .  I wasn't thinking when it happened.

Looking good. I think the dwarf with his halberd raised upright could do with a little bit of shading on his hair and beard 'though to bring him up to the same standard as the rest of the group.

:clap2:

Congrats on the win! What is the prize?

The clapping in my post was for actualy painting that many Klocke dwarfs from reaper. I've only managed to paint half of one of mine (and yet I seem to have about as many as you do).

@Custom Hobby

There was no prizes for this one. Just bragging rights.  Reaper used to hold a quarterly contest but since did away with it.

@Balgin Stondraeg
I have a bunch that I am still working one too.  I have had the same 3 shield maidens  half done for well over a month now.  And it doesn't look like I will be getting them done anytime soon.

Do the Griff's mean anything on the pillar.

Left face, upper symbol: Ansuz, the norse rune of communication, meanings, the A rune. Confusingly it's the O rune to the saxons (who made a different rune their A rune and then made the O rune mean something else, they also added another 9 or ten runes more to complicate things even further).

I don't recognise the others from any ancient system of writing and of course I can't see the other two faces.

Actualy he's blatantly used the saxon version of the rune so the meaning changes slightly but I could look it up for you sometime later (under the saxon rune Os) if you like.

You've got the Princess Slayer (Leia) dwarf too? :)

And since you mentioned unfinished Klocke dwarfs from the reaper you'd better take a look at mine (complete with too bright slightly out of focus photography).

I remember the left side of the pillar rune was one that I remembered from the game Ultima that I played a while back.  I just thought it looked cool back then and desided to slap it on.  I really was just looking for visuals here not genuine articles.

I don't have Leia yet but I am sure it won't be long before I do.
