This is the present I painted for my Mum for Christmas.  Painting it took me right up to the wire, so I wasn't able to get proper photos - these were taken with my sister's iPhone in an obviously make-shift setup on Mum's dining room table.

I'm fairly pleased with it and Mum thought it was great, and I don't think I've seen another one of these painted apart from the two studio versions on the Newbold website.

The only thing to note is that Newbold call it a Dracophant - I call it a Dragophant, but that doesn't really matter when you're facing a beastie of this size!!

I shall endevour to get some better photos if I can talk my Mum into lending it back to me :)

It's beautifully DONE but if I was attacked by something like this I'd probably die laughing long before it was able to attack  :icon_wink: What a horribly silly creature  :icon_biggrin2:

Thanks Bodhi, I totally agree :D  But there are many more ridiculous monsters out there in the RPG community than this: the Owlbear or the Duckbunny are amongst the better examples: http://www.headinjurytheater.com/article73.htm

However, my Mum's two favourite "animals" in the world are Elephants and Dragons.  Couldn't really go wrong with this one!

Well, back when I was twelve I wasn't to familiar with the differences between american and british english and I borrowed a mythology book (without illustrations) at the library.
Been meaning to sculpt a three legged ass (or arse if you're british - that's the way I figured it...) ever since  :icon_wink:

Hi Keeper. I'm glad you finished it and I hope Your Mum likes it. The dracophant has raised just over £1200 for Children in Need since Federico Genovese so generously donated it to the Challenge. What a superstar! And thanks for helping by buying one for your Mum!     :icon_biggrin2:

Now that is good news! :)  I don't know if you hear this much, but I just wanted to say thanks for the work you do raising money for CiN, Ian!

I don't agree. It's a great sculpt. Just a horrid subject. There's a difference between those two. This is an "idea that never should have been" brilliantly executed  :icon_wink: (much like reaper orchs... or - god forbid - space marines :icon_rolleyes:)

Got to agree with that.

Actually, for the most part it was really quite a fun piece to paint (except when I dropped it on the way to varnishing). The detail pulls itself out as you're painting it without very much effort and apart from some minor balance issues it is an excellent model.

But as has been said, a rather odd subject.  I guess we'll just have to disagree :)

I'm off to find one of my old Owlbears ...

I know you're being as nice as anyone can be about a paintjob on a sculpt you don't like, Molar, and it is appreciated :D

I feel moved to defend the detail on the model, as it is very good, but I think we'd both be continuing a disagreement on which we're not going to find common ground. And that makes it not worth the effort of all that typing for both of us! :)

Everyone knows if its related to a dragon then Mike likes it. This one strikes me as odd but has character.
