Inspired by the great paintjobs that others have done on this mini, I was inspired to crank this chap out pretty quickly (for me!) .

He's not a masterwork, but I'm really pleased with the way he has come out - even the satin varnish has given him a tiny bit of sparkle on the darker, cool rock, which I'm pleased with! :)

Your comments however, are most welcome.

Top job, thats what I was going for.

Thanks Bungle.  I really enjoyed painting this chap and I've got to say that it is the first large miniature in years I can remember that having finished it I thought "Hmmm, could do with another one of these to paint it in a different way."

I think I'll be making another Heresy order this month! :)  Stone Elemental this time, methinks!

Great sense of heat on this, great effect! You need a more scenic base for some OSL (just more drybrushing).

If I'm picky I'd say to add some lava effect between his feet and the ground and go as high as white where you want the eyes to stand out but this is seriously good without that.

:clap2:!!

Thanks gibblets

I'm sure I'm going to be getting another of these chaps.  So, given that I've never tried OSL before, if I put him on a more complex base, how would I go about doing some OSL?

Is it as simple as just drybrushing some red/orange/yellow (or whatever colour the light is) onto where the light shines on the base? Or is it more complex than that?

You've just done OSL in reverse already.  Closest part to the lava is brightest so you start with red, then smaller area closer to the source in orange then yellow etc

Less is more! Unlike this..(far too heavy!)
