As a follow up to yesterday's Terminator from White Dwarf 345, the Ork Nob, that also came with the magazine.

I couldn't quite get the lighting right.  It is probably something really stupid, but I can't figure it out.

Some light on the front figure might help.  :icon_wink:

I thought that they were - but I honestly can't remember either way, certianly looks likeno light at the front, but then he is a pretty dark figure, overall.  I'll try re-shooting tonight.

he's a pretty dark figure over all. It's always tought o light something so dark without over lighting it.

OK - better photo uploaded to cheddarmongers - you should be able to see that, above!

Cool metals, still think it needs some more highlights though

Keeper

I think you're right.  After the success I had with my HF Markus using a thinned wash over his skin - as you usually advise people to do - for my next Ork I think I might hightlight highter than I would otherwise, and then darken with a wash.  I think the same could be said for his leather clothes as well.

You can get a really cool orky colour with Catachan green layered up to Camo Green then add bleached bone for extreme highlights.

Keeper

Thanks, gi6ers - I'll give that a go when I get to my smaller orks.  I wanted this chap to be darker, as he is a nob (who are supposed to have darker skin).

I think I used foundation orkhide flesh over black, then highlighted in three or four layers by adding bleached bone to the orkhide flesh, up to about a 2:1 miix, iirc.  Still think I'll use some washes next time! ;)
