Flooring desiging going on now.

There will be a border around the tiles. Ill look at some granny grating for some alternate flooring options. Im happy how these are turning out.

Nice work, AM :D

But you'll have to define the term granny grating for those of us unfamiliar with it?
:hal:

Agentmolar

as stolen from Terragenesis

The term "granny grating" is a long running joke name for of a kind of plastic mesh available from needlework and sewing shops where it is sold for making tapestries. It's more properly known as "plastic canvas" or "plastic weave". For further information: ask your grandmother.

Ah, my grandmother taught me how to crossstich on that stuff.  Not a skill I've kept up with ;)

I like the lego bases, by the way :D

lol. lego bases.. actually they are some of the original back to basix ones i got ages ago. Not mine.

not sure about the rivets. Mikes advice is to cast them up plain, and add em later.

leave them off.

Drill small holes as if there are countersunk hex key fixings more sci fi and less VSF

Agentmolar

Good idea. Ive finished the floor, just refining it before casting. ill do small holes in the first prototype

Ok here is a picture of the glued down flooring with a mini for size.

One thing ive learned from this. If you are going to make everything neat and straight. Lay it together before gluing it to the substructure. The beauty of styrene is that you can use a slow setting glue that allows the pieces to shift together and get nice contact. The superglue sets so frickin fast that if there is a shift or angle its stuck in there. Hence the tiny slight gaps and shifts you can see in it. Its subtle stuff, but does ruin the sci fi perfect look.

If i was going to make this again. id make a 90 degree angle but joint first, lay the lot together so its all neat and straight, finish the border and then glue it to he strip underneath. At least. thats what ill try for the next one.

Sagunt

To be certain of keeping everything squared up, build a frame of legos.  Necromunda bulkheads must've been built this way because when I was looking for a way to reproduce the size, I found they fit together perfectly.  You could frame the interior detail, then create a larger lego frame for the grid in which the detailed panels rest.  You'd just have to settle on a floor grid that would be reproducible with their shapes and sizes.

If this is too vague, I'll put something together and get some pics.

i think lego would be very useful. Also for casting moulds. Good idea. Ill just have to find some basic blocks. All i can find at the shops now is viking/ star wars and indiana jones lego..

That is all you'll find in the shops, but the online store sells basic brick sets ...
