Just a mere three months after starting them, here are all five of my Heresy Customs Inspectors.

Not sure what I did wrong with the photo - they don't shine like this in real life.  Probably because I only had one light source, the flash on my camera.

But other than that, comments and criticisims are most welcome :)

The flash always makes em look different to what they are with the real eye, I'd say never use the flash if at all possible.

Nice and cleanly painted mate, the flesh is a bit hard to make out properly but I blame this on the flash.  Did you paint some of these b4 or was that someone else?  Sure they were red and white as well.....

Keeper

Yeah, the one on the far right I painted and posted before, individually.

I think I'm going to have to spend some time reading that tutorial that Uncle Phil has posted on Cheddarmongers.  I keep trying to get him to join us over here, but no success, as yet! :D

cheddarmonger

yes, much better pictures, please!

Uncle Phil is a tremendous contributor to Cheddarmongers, pretty much the only one to contribute content (besides pictures) except for me...
Nevermind me, I have a cruddy banner, so please click HERE for Cheddarmongers!

Keeper

OK! OK! I made a blog entry!

Is that better? ;)

They are nice! They are almost painted as the "V" invaders, which is cool! :icon_wink:

The only bit of criticism I would dare is about the red. I think some highlights would have been welcome, but I am myself no specialist of cloth painting. I know how hard it is to work on red and keep it...red, and not pink, or orange.

Nice work anyway. It's a fine squad you've got here Dave!

Strange you should say that - I've got an identical set awiating some green stuff to do exactly that with ;)  Someone else mention this (or was it you?) on the Forum of Doom.

It is fair criticism.  I did try a highlight by adding both some yellow and some white (a sort of lemon yellow) to the highest red I've used here, but it just went wrong.  I've had more success on some very similar red I'm using on some Space Marines at the moment.  I'm sure pics will follow when they're done!

Try starting with a darker base for the red so your highlights show up more.

Use a bright orange and then glaze with red for highlights if you want to take it up a level.

(look good to me without)

Good job, cant wait to finish off my own.... then i gatta get a freekin camera....
I'll be in my bunk.

Thanks for all the feedback, chaps - I really appreciate it! :D

Good one, Wristy :)

See, I knew that already, but a kick up the arse is always a good reminder!  You should have been more forceful and told me I was an idiot for not thinking about this - because that is exactly what I'm thinking right now!!  :Doh!:

How do you make your glazes, gi6ers? Just very thinned down paint?

Yeah, I've got a camera (obviously), but I've already lost two 5-pin mini-USB cables to my two year old who takes then and hides them, then can't remember where she's put them!  So, its not always plain sailing, even when you've got a camera! :D

Yeah, blood red with a drop of flow enhancer. Thin down to wash consistency and paint over the area, should take 4 or 5 passes before it blends nicely
