yes I do have some 40k models. I even have some painted ones. But, because noody wants to teach me how to play the game (since it's been dumbed down to the point of no longer simply being the sci fi version of Warhammer but an almost completely unrelated rules system) they don't get out the case much.

So here's some pictures:

Yep that's them. All of them. Here's a closeup of my favourite one (the cut of her hair makes her look like some naughty french maid pretending to be a nun of something in a strip club :p).

More pictures coming (I took 11 pic, mostly facial closeups on various different half done models). So I might condense a few of them into facial collages. Those are the only finished ones (and yes, I did highlight all the bloody black).

Yes they need basing. I want a sort of mars dust type effect and haven't a clue as to how to paint it (why do so many 40k players put grass on their bases when they're mean't to be spacemen with robot bits shooting aliens on alien planets?).

This girl's going to get the heavy flame thrower (so that might not be her hair colour, maybe it's unit tradition or something, 40k people are into 'ing up their bodies like that so if bionic implants are okay they probably don't mind painting their hair wierd colours too with chemicals).

Grr, photo's killed a lot of the shading. It's actualy the same colour as the "french girl"'s but with added streaky bright orange highlights towards the tips to make it look more firey.

These two are both the same girl. Just goes to show what a bit of lighting can do eh? (She looks better in the shade).

And this one's pulling the pin out the grenade with her teeth.

And these four are two different girls (you can tell by the mouth).

The reason I only finished six (other than the fact that it took me about two or three days) is that they're the ones I had from when they came in unit boxes of six (I didn't do the standard bearer or unit leader yet). I've got them one of the new ten strong boxes to keep them company (that's who the WIP's are).

Nice, Balgin :)  There is some great face work here, as well as your trademark red hair :D

You don't see SoB as often as you should, and I've not been able to pick any up yet (in the mini sense, not the strip car sense!).

I'm trying to get it right then I can go back to more normal hair colours :p. Seriously, I don't have that many ginger mini's.

I believe you ... but there has been a bit of theme in your photos of late ... :P

I played W40k since Rogue trader days and while there are some new rules that are retarded (look up grenades), I really think they have improved it significantly.  I MUCH approve of the new ruleset-finally armour means something...finally its a game of soldiers and not over powered Ragnar Blackmanes or Khairn running around lopping everyones heads off.

I dont think they dumbed it down (beyond the stat line changes on mental faculties) but instead removed the power creep and all the bloody exceptions to various rules (or attempted to).  The power creep is returning however (re- Necrons) but such is life.  The newst army always does best.

As for your SoBs, wonder paint jobs-and I would love to see some more on the battlefield.

One more thing;  If you ever decide to do a squat army-I have some Exoarmour guys around..and maybe a living ancestor-but since GW flippin removed em from the game, they would need to be used as a "counts as" army

I'm trying to learn how to paint ginger hair well and realisticaly looking (and not doing very well at it). You know that thing of where you undercoat loads of mini's and spend months painting skin to get good at skin. SSame with metals. Well now I'm moving on to trying to bring other colours up to the new standard I can do metals and skin at and it's proving a tough challenge.

They took the movement value off the profile. That's some serious dumbing down (plus they changed the rules for moving through scenery to be incredibly stupid, and they changed scenery to giving cover if you're standing on it's base regardless of wether it's actualy blocking line of sight or actualy giving you cover or anything, that's just bullrubbish*).

It's been seriously dumbed down.

Bit of an in joke, that. I'm good at doing skin now but rubbish at doing lips on skin. So I went with the dark red punk girl lipstick because I could actualy do that without mucking it up :p. I haven't actualy explained that to anyone before, it's just a sly little personal joke for myself to appreciate (there's loads of those personal jokes that nobody gets in my gaming, I don't share them because they're pretty obscure, I just have a very cunning sense of humour).

So, since you said on the Forum of Doom that you'd made some progress on these girls, Balgin, I thought I'd try a little of the dark arts of thread necromancy  :icon_evil:

Got any pics of the current state of these ladies so that we can offer feedback?
