Well i thought bugger it, i tried painting these to a high standard and im over it. I just want to start getting through the lead mountain. So these look ok to me for table top, but i wont win any display awards. Im seriously thinking i cant get fine smooth blends and highlights.. they seem to elude me.

Anyhoo.. for you viewing pleasure.
The casting was crud* for his eye, so instead of making them even... hes now a bionic man.

He he.. sam fisher style!

Nice :)   They're great for tabletop standard.  I think they've come out really well.

I've been searching for ideas for my set of these and I think you may have helped me.  Thanks Agentmolar :)

Good work, your colour choices are very good (something I really struggle with).

Smooth blends are always a challenge, looks like you use layering..the most useful advise I can give is to thin your paints (if you use GW colours get some flow enhancer), when you apply a lighter colour you shouldn't see any colour difference for the first few passes, I use 5-6 layers personally. If you think a colour transition is too sharp just glaze over with a midtone to tie the colours in.

You seem to be having eye issues (I know the feeling) try to paint them first, use a bleached bone/white mix for the whites then get a liner brush (long and thin) and some thinned black and paint a stripe where you want the eyes, this way you can tidy up when you paint your skin base colour...as for the lips, I'd avoid trying to paint these with a different color, I would try and use a thin wash or 2 of brown to show up wrinkles/lips etc, try and make the wash just go on those areas as it will give you a better result than just washing the whole face IMO.

Or just tell me to bugger off.. :icon_wink:

No thanks for the tips. Im slowly getting the concept of thin layering. But its bloody frustrating to use for lots of minis. Normally i get my eyes alright, but im over painting this batch. Ill move onto some new projects and try some proper techniques from the beginning.

I have been using a brown ink wash on the eye first to create a darkishness and then paint in the eye white with bleached bone.
It's more easy than doing a black line and is handy for doing lots of figure's.
I need to improve my brush control more to get the black line right.

Like Gi6ers said and practice.  :icon_wink:
