Oh and about the barbarian: If his backmusculature is as well defined as the front it would be a true shame hiding it under a cloak. I love wellmade backmusculature.

that settles it then, no cloak, i'll save cloaks for the higher ranks also yup he'll be cast, along with the rest of his faction and there'll be more of my stuff released by stronghold soon

I've just realised, as far as I know everyone's decided on humanoid armies, (even orangs are close). Just a thought, possibly pointing out the obvious, but its always an option to do a force a bit more ...gribbly. a la tyranids or animals. Just a thought The cloaks for higher ranks thing I think would actually look better anyway, cool musculature or not. I'd not thought much about shreb clothing actually, if they even need it. They'll probably have more physical difference than other races though, so maybe large flat faces and longer hair, adn rounder stomachs, for older leaders " When the males become sexually mature they develop many distinctive physical features that are very characteristic of orang-utans. Fleshy cheek pads form on both sides of their face and a high, fatty crown on their head. Their hair grows long and a beard develops on their faces. They have an impressive call that they produce with the aid of their laryngeal sac (found hanging from their chin). The call is thought to be a mating call, but little is known yet about its exact purpose." http://www.photohome.com/pictures/animal-pictures/wildlife/orangutan-1a.jpghttp://www.orang-utans.com/orangutan.jpgmight be the chief http://www.primates.com/orangutans/orangutantree.jpgand younger ones compare? http://www.primates.com/orangutans/orangutansfaces.jpgJust another question, may there be a possibility to expand on the ranges later on? You mentioned a game, so what's intended to come of that?

okay i imagine the 5 test pieces, these are then expanded t form and starting range of Commander Something Unique to your faction 6 Troops (3 each of different types or six interchangebles) between 2 and 4 elites (upto 2 each of different types)
so using my barbs as an example Chieftain (Commander) Dire Boar (Unique) 3 Warriors weilding 2 axes (Troops) 3 Warriors wielding 2 handed axes (Troops) Druid (elite) 2 Ogres (elite)
this can then be expanded out to your heart's content, adding in new elite units, new command units, new troops the reason i decided on these numbers is they can be sold in convinient packs this way

AND it's a small enough starter that all of us might be able to make it. No good starting out TO big and bite of more than we can chew. I have the ideas for leader (high priestess), the basic troops (just elves. Archers and swordsmen) but I'm still wanting for elite figures and something unique. . Perhaps an Oberon/horned god type as elite... or a druid? Any suggestions?
I was thinking perhaps a stag or unicorn or some such as a unique figure... But sculpting humanoids is something I've had pretty long practice in. Sculpting animals is a whole new chapter in anatomy for me

just do very furry things. Less musculature I've seen a few sculpts like that. I'm not impressed. Even with superlong fur it shows if the underlying structure isn't right.

gotta do the musculature, if aything you can texture the skin or add fur afterwards, but as i say, especially in a facial sense animals are refreshingly easy to achieve

(surely somebody's posted a shaved goat somewhere on the web?)

shouldn't be too tough with the orangs, find a good orang skeleton chart an then apply the same human muscles to it differing ther proportions according to you skeleton and your reference pics

Yes, simple as that ( ) I got my mail order in today, so you'll start to see my model unfold, but slowly (I have to scavenge parts and make them look like my own, not GW stuff shoved together). Once I finish the first model I'll have a go at sculpting a basic model of my own and see how that turns out, butif I don't post anything on that for a long time, that prety much means it didn't go well . If you have any of the stuff I nead (prety much the lizardman cold one riders' sprue (the plastic new one)) then tell me in my wish list thread, the sooner the better!
