I played this last night.

I was a big fan of the RPG back when i was in highschool, but it really depended on the quality of your mates and GM to play. This however is a lot of fun on its own.. it feels like survivor without the starving or the voting or the million dollars. The backstabbing, shifting of alliances and sheer self interest is exactly the same.

You have a troubleshooter card which makes you security clearance Red. The team leader is appointed (we used a dice roll) and he is promoted to Orange and given an extra card as well. (We made a houserule that if you passed his security clearance you became the new team leader, but i think thats not really a rule of the game)

Your given a number of action cards based on your clearance level which you all play sequentially one at a time. Any time cards can be played any time as its states. Trust me when i say that the "plasma cannon" is awesome until someone "better ideas" you and takes your card off you.

You have to complete (or not) missions with success meaning security clearances increases for some or all. Its this mix of self interest and toadying to get favours that really mixes the game up. The team leader is getting ahead? Then make him fail a mission that wipes his security clearance. Need him to promote you? Help him out with a well times Docbot heal and expect a gracious reward, he might of course see you as a threat and make you a traitor before going into the debriefing though.... thats the fun of paranoia.

Its a fun game with us all cursing at each other, working together to bring down a person rising to the higher levels, protecting the guy with one clone ( the games over if one of you loses their 6th clone) then vaporising him when you are ahead in security clearance (the highest clearance at the end wins)

I highly recommend this game and its a great one to play with fellows when you just kicking back, want a few laughs and the GM cant be arsed running an adventure.

Its meant to be a quick game, but then again they havent played with my mates. We spent 4-5 hours playing one game last night.. but then again one of the fellows is an infamous drawn out  Blood Bowl player... he is the reason we dont play BB anymore.... or Necromunda.. or anything involving strategy.

Lets just say it was Ghost Recon on the 360 after that.
Funny isnt it how naughty dentists always make their one fatal mistake.
Bye for now, keep your teeth clean

I thought Mongoose Publishing sold all the new Paranoia stuff now. I've played Paranoia once or twice before, using the adventures from White Dwarf with absolutely no knowledge of the rules (which in no way hampered or restricted our enjoyment of the game, exept for our lack of knowledge regarding the actual setting or the reasons why there were clones).
