I've finished mine, its come out ok but theres too many gaps for my liking.  I started filing the edges down on the base row and it threw it all out.  Should have just left it but I could sort out with a little "No Sanding Poly Filler".  This one was a test run to get an idea of it all so not going to keep it and therefore after I drybrush it I will chuck on ebay.  Have sprayed it grey and will pop a photo on here soon when I get batteries

Thats looking very good Geronimo, a lot tighter than mine but it has to be with fieldstone.  On mine each block is made to look like a seperate block so theres a lot more allowance for error.  One brick that isnt perfectly cast could throw the whole thing out on yours and I'd have definately ballsed that up !!!

For all the "accurately modelled" fluff thrown about on the various websites related to this stuff,I'm surprised how gappy this has turned out. The whole tower is also tapering gradually inwards, so rather than the 8 full blocks per tier marked up on plan,I'm down to about 7.6 blocks by tier 14. The fact that I have ready access to bandsaws, disc sanders and the like makes that an easily solved problem - I dread to think how you poor hobbyists would struggle  :icon_scratch:

One of the nice things about modelling this in resin is the fact that I can fill and modify the thing with car body filler, much faster to work with than any of the various modelling putties and fillers. I'll be using slightly thinned milliput on all the seams,though. And will probably attack it with the dremel first, to weather it down and make it somewhat less "new" looking...

Make the stone plaster thicker so it's a paste and use it for the gap's, i will prime my black first so i will just need to highlight and weather it.

Might even use the thick plaster to stick it together and it should fill the gaps too.  :icon_wink:

1 x curved large metal file and 1 x flat large metal file.  I rub the bricks against the file rather than move the file, gives a flatter finish   :icon_wink:  Still didnt get a very tight finish but I was rushing it.

I'm gonna use "no sanding filla" for the gaps on my new one but yeah a thick mix of plaster would work fine.  I run out of that Herculite already though...

If i'm going to do extra with the concreate then i need to start tomorrow and do a cast a day to stockpile them.  :icon_wink:

its shocking how quickly it goes down !!  Concrete is a lot stronger than this herculite so thats a good move and I dont think there will be much in weight difference.  Shame we havent got the tools Geronimo and Mike have then we could do this resin instead.  It looks far cleaner detailing and I expect it will be lighter than plaster.

Here she is, primed grey.  there are gaps inbetween the sections that I may fill b4 selling.  On the 2 I need for my diorama I will glue the bits all together and just do stairs on the base section.  That way its a lot neater and any filling will be easier.

First day was 12 casts in roughly 10 hours, 2nd day was final 6 casts and started putting it together, 3rd day realised needed another 1 cast to finish (think I went wrong somewhere) but did that and stuck rest together.  4th day was spraying.  If you work and have other commitments expect it to take a week long I reckon.

On the window sections it says the piece is slightly too big so you have to file the edges down but judging this with a metal file is near impossible so its a bit of guess work.  Better to over-file and fill after than not file enough and have it bulge out as happened a bit with mine.

Looks nice mate, I wish I'd gone for a smaller model as a trial, hadn't really appreciated how damn big mine's turning out...

Mines just under 9" tall so bigger than I expected.  Yours could almost double as a beer keg I bet  :icon_w00t:
