Great stuff there Bruenor. I always love the terrain you print up for your games.

You've got a lovely leather on his apron there.  How did you do that?

And the anvil and plyers.  Is that just black drybrushed with something like GW Boltgun Metal?  It looks great :)

Thanks.
The WWG terrain really does make minis look better and at a cheap price too.

Keeper, the 'leather' is an OOP paint called snakebite leather, washed with 2 parts chestnut ink, 2 parts water and 1 part Brown ink, then drybrush (shudder) over with a little of the base colour, if you need a real sharp highlight to it add a little vomit brown and highlight again.
It would work just as well with Vermin Brown.

The metals are as follows:
The Anvil : Base Boltgun Metal, washed with neat Black Ink, and highlighted with Boltgun metal, then a little Chainmail added to the mix.

The pliers : Chainmail washed with 1 part black ink, 1 part blue ink, 2 parts water, then highlighted with Chainmail and Mithril Silver, then glazed with an ultra thin wash of Black Ink.

I did dirty all the apron and the mans arms, but it looked crud* so I went over it all, a little of the black still shows on the apron IRL, but it looks cool now just a little grubby, which is what I wanted.

If you can pleased post a link for the scenery. It really makes the figures pop.

Thanks bruenor :)  I've got plenty of snakebite leather and the old inks.  I'll give the leather effect a go next time I come to some leather on a mini!

Nice work as usual!

Thanks.

The inks are the current ones, but I guess they haven't changed that much.

I have spare GW paints but they are W.A.O.L.  :icon_sad:
Got a few of the paint box sets twenty years ago (still using them) and it anoys me that they change the mix and names too.
But that's a topic for the rant topic.  :icon_wink:

You did a great job on him, it's just a wonder the sculpter didn't put something in his right hand as that would fit in with his pose.

If you make a rack (match sticks would work) and put some spare weapons on it and maybe a shield, it would add to the feel and also give it a more 3d look to the setting.

He has a hammer in his right hand, he's leaning on it behind the anvil.

I have a weapons rack for Heroquest that would fit the bill.

I need to paint the rack up (mine went with the commission), but I have a cardstock one tht would work too, it's inside on the upper level of the weapons shop, I like to think he would send all completed works straight there.

I would have liked a more actioned pose, like having the hammer striking the anvil, but hey you get what's there.

Until I get the HQ one painted again here's a shot inside the weapons shop.

Got loads of pics from my builds here:
