Brown turned to green? WTF?!

She's not blonde. She hates being blonde. Elves are always blonde (with a few having white, black or occassionaly a really fake unnatural looking red hair). Elves never have natural browny coloured hair but she's a rebel. She dyed it light brown!

Then she got varnished. Her hair changed tone from a nice light brown to being a dirty green with yellow highlights! I'm not kidding here. Under natural sunlight it still looks a fairly nice light brown colour but under synthetic lighting (read, any kind of lightbulb) it changes to being green with yellow highlights. Now I'm pretty sure I didn't ink the hair so it must be that 'ing Citadel "matte" varnish that's the culprit since she looked beautiful before that. If anyone's got any suggestions for fixing the hair I'd be interested to hear.

I did this paintjob a few years ago, shortly before all those LOTR painting articles in White Dwarf seriously improved my painting skills. Also the bow's supposed to be held horizontal as if loading an arrow but I couldn't get the arm to fit into the socket at the right angle and did it this way. Annoyingly, I then pained a second one in a very similar colour scheme (but with metallic scales, not leather ones, and with blonde hair) and managed to get the bow arm on at the right angle. Maybe someday I'll paint a third one in a similar scheme to this (with maybe some watery blues and yellowy greens mixed in) and get the arm in the right position but for now I'm fairly happy with this one.

Varnish sometimes mucks around with my stuff as well. The Amanthas I painted for RLS... oh dear lord.. the subtle red blending on her quiver was utterly stripped and destroyed by the varnish I applied.

She's a great fig though - who makes her?
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Reaper. I think she's a Klocke sculpt. She doesn't look his usual style but the telltale signs are there. The bow arm enters a socket at the shoulder but the rest's all one piece (she comes with a big square 25mm base 'though so I put her on anice round one for skirmish games).

Edit: Removed double post :icon_wink:

Ah, she'd be Warlord 14058: Lorielle Silverrain, Female Elf Archer by Sandra Garrity. So she's not a Klocke sculpt afterall. She's in the warlord mercenaries section, not in the warlord elf section.

A Garrity sculpt? Wow, that surprises me, it's much more kick-ass than her usual stuff - I quite like this one!

BAlgin can you try and take a pic under a lightbulb? I would like to see how green it gets.
