Happy birthday!

So, what brings you to the miniatures hobby?  Do you like painting, sculpting, terrain building, gaming, or just pointing and laughing at us who do??  :cm

Happy birthday to you! I have an image of the Great Gonzo wearing ange;l wings now. Or maybe Hunter S Thompson roaming round heaven trying to score some angel dust.

The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

Many thanks to you all for the good wishes for my "ouch".....42nd Birthday... :icon_cry:
Yes I have been very slack in not posting, whip me if you will  :icon_twisted:
I have been in the miniatures hobby now for just about all my life really, doing 1/35th scale kits when I was a youngster and through my teens, but dropping out of the hobby in my early 20's. I was in a store one day when I spotted a White Dwarf on the counter, I had a quick flick through wondering what it was all about, but put it back and didn't think anymore of it until later that night. Obviously something had stuck in my mind and I went back and bought it the next day and my wallet has never been the same since.
I was heavily into playing such games as Heroquest, Warhammer Quest, Fantasy and 40K for years, but that has wilted in the last few years mainly due to a lot of friends either moving away or getting out of the hobby altogether.
I was always into the GW stuff, still am really, but not as much due to the abundance of excellent manufacturers that have appeared over the years, there really are some brilliant sculptors out there who are producing mind blowing mini's. I now prefer to hunt down and paint those excellent mini's where I can.
I enter Golden Demon every year and last year finally nailed a bronze in Duel, which I was absolutely stoked at winning. I consider myself a decent painter, but by no means as good as most. I prefer to sit and paint or make scenery or convert stuff, I have so many projects on the go (as most of you would I'm guessing) and I really need to buckle down and get some things finished.
I've recently started painting some stuff for Eureka Miniatures her in Vic and hope that will take off a little bit more.

I promise I will endeavor to be more active on the forums after such a warm welcome.

Thanks for the introduction!  I'm pretty similar; I've been doing more painting than gaming lately.  Got started with model car kits when I was a kid ('til I found firecrackers, woohoo!) and got into model railroading with my Dad, we focused on making rolling stock, buildings, and painting those little tiny ho scale people.

Several years later, I found myself invited to a d&d game, saw the miniatures they used, and it was all over.  :cm
