VERY big tank 1938 VBCW

A WIP....

not sure about the colour for 1938 French armour looks a bit bright, still need to finish building it (waiting for the machine guns)

comments and suggestions welcome (Copplestone Vickers for scale)

Excellent work, Bungle :)  Looks really good, although perhaps a bit on the big scide for 1938VBCW! :D

Have you got any background on where this monster comes from or who he's being used by?

its one of the two in a poor state of repair that it took over a month of working on by the French Army before they were ready to deploy in Verdun in 1939.

this one will be number 94, shipped over as scrud* to Hull in 1938 and worked on there. Just got it running in time to be used in the defence of Hull from the Royalist Invasion.

It scared the  sh1t out of the BUF crushing one of their tankettes and causing them to flee which broke the whole attack.

Once suitable transport can be found it will be shipped to Leeds for the Local Defence Force to equip and possibly replace the two Maybach engine. The Idle Libertarians are working on some Multibank versions of the very reliable Jowett engines as we speak.

The current 20 year old engines are not in a very good state of running. And the local engineering works will be tinkering too.

Very cool looking models-the Char was actually a VERY impressive tank for its time- one that could easily have pounded the Germans if leadership had a clue.


Ive always had a sweetspot for those french tanks and their cruddy 1 man turrets :)

Excellent background :)  Must try and play some more VBCW soon.  I game regularly with WarhammerGrimace, and he seems to have picked up some more interest since he did something with Cornwall.  I really must ask him for details!

This behemoth was one of the first 3 man turrets, designed in WW1 but not finished in time, so used in WW2.

The upgraded armour on one (or two) in WW2 made it among the the heaviest tanks ever at 72 tons and impervious to all anti tank guns of early WW2.

If the things were not 20 years old and were reliable they would have been really scary to the Germans.
