Is there no love for Number 1? I like it; it was my second fave. His gun is a cool addition and his skin has a nice glow.
The questions we should be asking are these:
Does it have dungeons?
Does it have dragons?
Does it have transients who kill things for money?  Do you roll a d20?

I liked Wyrd's idea, 3 votes per person.  But we didn't have nearly enough entries for that.  Yet.

I was thinking the same thing. I am sure we will have enough entries when we do the sculpting competition.

I've cast my vote... then changed my mind  :tantrum:

Well well, not much to do about that now. It wasn't an easy choice to make.

Since you mentioned it, I went and changed it so that you can change your vote if you change your mind. I am sure over a week some people may change their minds.

I went for number 2 but think number 3 may be the best, just cant tell the detail from that pic though.  So sticking with no.2 until I can see no.3 better.  They really are all good though, great work on all the cloaks with shading and a variety of skin colours to choose from makes it that much harder.  Great work everyone!

I added another picture for #5. The submitter says the picture is a good representation of the colors.

I agree, no.1 is very cool!

Alright, here's the Cheddar critique:

1 -- decent paintjob, just tabletop quality.  The gun is a great touch, it looks like it belongs there.  The metals aren't very good and the darn staff is bent!  Dude -- always straighten staves, swords, guns, whatever before entering a contest!

2 -- great paintjob, excellent color choices.  The details really pop, and the crystal on the staff looks amazing.

3 -- fantastic freehand, lots of great detail and texture, and the varigated skin color is very well executed, but the photo lets it down.  A neutral background would really help, it looks grainy.

4 -- really nice color choices, that's a great job on a dark skin color.  The jewels are very well done.

5 -- great concept, the base is amazing, but the picture looks really washed-out to me, and the painting looks rough or grainy, as though it were drybrushed.

6 -- good paintjob, I think the base tells a story, as though he's lost in a wild forest.  I like the color variation around his brow, the cloth is extremely well blended.

That's my story, and I'm stickin to it!  :cm

1-- Nicely thought out. If the skin had the quality of shading that the cloak has it would be doing a lot better in the voting

2-- I agree with your comments, although I would personally like to see a paler blue skin overall. I only just noticed the conversion of the crystal on the end of the staff. This is good.

3-- I agree. Poor photography, poor lighting. Can't see the details.

4-- Good colour combinations, nicely shaded, well painted.

5-- Noothing wrong with drybrushing !! Grunge.. dusty... realistic, base is excellent. It looks like it has stepped off of a film set rather than out of the pages of a comic book.

6-- I am really surprised about number 6. The painting is very well done, and i think it deserves more votes than it has. Each time I look at it I notice more details. The touches of red on the hands and feet as well as the head, jewels are well done.

But it just goes to show we all go for different things.  :icon_scratch:

My take on the entry's.

1. The Gun is very well painted, More shading for the skin and the jewels look a bit lifeless and the eye's blend in a bit with the skin. The eye's can be tricky to do on this figure.

2. I like the tone of blue gives it a more Alien feel, bit more work on the staff shaft would finish him nicely.

3. It's the picture that let's it down, makes seeing the details harder which stop you seeing the excellent paint job right.

4. Neat and tidy, the detail jump out at you and the eye's have a strange Alien fell to them.

5. Excellent diorama base, painting looks very dry but that could be how the painter seen this figure, living in a bleak desolate, waterless landscape.

6. Nice blending on the cloth, the way the crystal in the staff and the gem's are all painted the same tie in nicely. The red on it's head, palm's, shins and feet helps break up the green skin. The eye's could be more distinctive and the chunk missing from the base lets it down.
